72 MonthsPh.D programme consists of coursework, qualifying/comprehensive examination, seminars, and a thesis. PhD students from all disciplines will have to register for a minimum of 24-course credits (16-course credits for lateral entry PhD students)
Besides the mandatory requirements, students are encouraged to participate in several professional activities such as workshops, review meetings and conferences. All doctoral students are also expected to participate in the undergraduate teaching programme of the Institute as a part of their training. The curriculum and other criteria for successfully completing the PhD programme in various disciplines are documented in the Postgraduate (PG) Manual.
Eligibility Criteria
A prospective candidate should have completed a postgraduate programme (M.S./M.Sc./M.Tech./MBBS) in a discipline relevant to his/her choice of PhD programme along with qualifying a national entrance exam. Students should have a valid National level examination like National Eligibility Test (NET)/GATE/UGC-JRF/CSIR-JRF/DBT (JRF A category)/ICMR (JRF category I)/NET-LS/INSPIRE-Ph.D./Rajiv Gandhi Fellowship/JGEEBILS or any other recognized score is mandatory. The certificate/fellowship MUST be valid at the time of admission.
