IISER Berhampur Admission Process 2021
Indian Institute of Science Education and Research, Berhampur (IISER Berhampur) is one of the 7 IISERs created by the Government of India. IISER Berhampur offers BS. + MS and PhD programmes through its 6 academic departments: Biological Sciences; Chemistry Sciences; Earth & Environmental Sciences; Mathematics Sciences; and Physics Sciences. The admission to these programmes is based on three channels, which include JEE Advanced or KVPY (Kishore Vaigyanik Protsahan Yojana) fellowship or State and Central Board Channel (SCB). Candidates have to appear for any one of these exams. Indian Institute of Science (IISc) Bangalore conducts Kishore Vaigyanik Protsahan Yojana (KVPY). It is a national-level scholarship programme for meritorious students to pursue courses in basic sciences. KVPY aspirants need to submit their application online, through the website Kishore Vaigyanik Protsahan Yojana and appear for the online entrance exam KVPY. Candidates appearing through the State and Central Board Channel (SCB), have to appear for IISER Aptitude Test. The admission to PhD programmes and Integrated PhD programmes are based on the performance of students in the screening test followed by an interview. IISER Berhampur admission for BS-MS Dual Degree:
Admission will be offered through 3 channels: KVPY/JEE/State and Central Boards.
Candidates applying through KVPY channel need to have KVPY fellowship and candidates applying through JEE channel need to have JEE Advanced rank below 10,000.
Then, candidates have to apply for admission online on the IISER Admission website.
Candidates applying through State and Central Boards channel have to appear for IISER Aptitude Test (IAT).
Admission will be offered through IISER Counselling based on KVPY fellowship/JEE Advanced rank/IISER Aptitude Test marks.
The separate merit list will be prepared for three channels and candidates have to visit the institute accordingly and complete the admission process, which includes documents verification and fee payment.
IISER Berhampur admission for PhD:
Candidates have to apply for online admission through IISER Berhampur website.
Shortlisting of candidates will be done by the institute based on their academic records.
Shortlisted candidates have to appear for Written Test and/or Personal Interview.
Final selection will be done based on performance in past academics, Written Test and/or Personal Interview.

Channels of Admission
Students are admitted to the programme through the following channels:
Kishore Vaigyanik Protsahan Yojana (KVPY) Basic Science Stream: Candidates having a valid KVPY fellowship are eligible to apply for admissions. Additional cut off criteria may be applicable.
Joint Entrance Exam (Advanced): Candidates in General category securing a rank within 10000 in the Common Rank List (CRL) of JEE Advanced are eligible to apply. For candidates belonging to reserved category (OBC-NCL, SC, ST, PD), their category rank would be used. Additional cut off criteria may be applicable.
State and Central Boards: Students who have passed (10+2) level with science stream during the current or previous year with marks equal or above the cut off percentage in their respective boards are eligible to apply. For the candidates belonging to the Non-Creamy Layer of the Other Backward Classes (OBC-NCL) and Persons with Disability (PD) categories, there is a 5% relaxation. The cut-off percentage for the Scheduled Castes (SC), the Scheduled Tribes (ST) and Kashmiri Migrants (KM) candidates is 55% in (10+2) level for all boards. Students applying through SCB channel will have to appear in the IISER Aptitude Test which will be conducted at various centers across the country. Indian nationals and students belonging to PIO or OCI category are eligible to apply provided they satisfy the eligibility criteria described above.
KVPY scholars admitted to IISERs would draw fellowship as per KVPY norms. In addition, a limited number of INSPIRE scholarships will be available for candidates admitted through JEE Advanced and SCB channels as per the norms prescribed by DST INSPIRE scheme.
IISERs follow Government of India rules regarding reservation for seat allocation in Central institutes of higher education.
