72 MonthsThe Institute offers Ph.D. in Chemistry programme shall be for a minimum duration of three years, including course work and a maximum of six years. Extension beyond the above limits will be governed by the relevant clauses as stipulated in the Statute/Ordinance of the individual Institution concerned. Department of Chemistry offers research in the areas of Inorganic Chemistry - Supramolecular Chemistry; Crystallography; Transition Metal Coordination Chemistry; Molecular Materials; Organometallic Chemistry; Organometallic Materials; Organic Materials; Macrocycles; Bio-inorganic Chemistry. Organic Chemistry - Synthetic Organic Chemistry; Natural Products; Organometallic Chemistry; Asymmetric Catalysis; Chemical Biology; Molecular Biology; Polymers; Biomaterials. Physical Chemistry - Electrochemistry: supercapacitors and electrocatalysis; Bionanotechnology; Biophysics; Polymers; Functional Nanomaterials; Ultrafast Spectroscopy; Biophysical Chemistry; Theoretical and Computational Chemistry; Ab Initio Theory of Materials.
Eligibility Criteria
- M.Sc./M.Tech. Degree in the relevant discipline with a minimum of 60% marks or CGPA/CPI of 7.0 on a 10 point scale (overall percentage/CGPA/CPI; not only in majoring subject). Mathematics in the 10+2 level is desirable. For an application to be considered in Physical Chemistry, Mathematics in the 10+2 level as well as in B.Sc. (undergraduate) is mandatory
Admission Details
- Exceptionally brilliant B.Tech./MBBS/MCA can also apply (For Biological Sciences only)
Exceptionally brilliant B.Tech. in Chemical and Environmental engineering can also apply (For Earth and Environmental Sciences only). - Additionally, a valid GATE/UGC/CSIR/JEST/ICMR (JRF category I)/DBT (JRF A category)/NBHM/JGEEBILS or any other recognized score is
mandatory. The certificate/fellowship MUST be valid at the time of admission.
