72 MonthsDoctor of Philosophy(Ph.D.) in Chemical Engineering program shall be for a minimum duration of three years, including course work and a maximum of six years. Extension beyond the above limits will be governed by the relevant clauses as stipulated in the Statute/Ordinance of the individual Institution concerned offered by the Institute of Advanced Research, Gandhinagar.
Eligibility Criteria
- Candidates for admission to the Ph.D. program shall have a master’s degree or a professional degree declared equivalent to the master’s degree, with at least 55% marks in aggregate or its equivalent grade ‘B’ in the UGC 7-point scale.
- A relaxation of 5% of marks, from 55% to 50%, or an equivalent relaxation of grade, shall be made for candidates of Gujarat belonging to reserved or differently abled categories.
- Candidates appearing in the final year examination may be allowed to appear in the PET examination, but the final admission process for such qualified candidates will depend on the production of a valid document for their minimum qualification at the time of admission.
- For Part-Time Ph.D. at IAR students must be present at IAR for at least 90 days within the year in addition to the Course work duration.
- Ph.D. program in part-time mode shall be for a minimum duration of 4 years. (The other guidelines related to Part-Time Ph.D. will be similar as indicated in UGC Regulation 2016 for Regular Ph.D. students).
- If a Part-Time Ph.D. student is an employee of some organization, they must have to produce the Consent and No. Objection Certificate from the Employer at the time of the application of Ph.D. program at IAR Gandhinagar.

To appear in the PET examination conducted by IAR, Gandhinagar. NET & GATE qualified candidates are exempted from PET examination.
