Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) is an offered Full-time three/six-year Doctoral program and it is offered by the North Eastern Regional Institute of Science and Technology, Nirjuli. Ph.D. programme shall be for a minimum duration of three years, including course work and a maximum of six years. Extension beyond the above limits will be governed by the relevant clauses as stipulated in the Statute/Ordinance of the individual Institution concerned.

Admission Process

  • The candidates with valid GATE/NET score including JRF (UGC/CSIR/ICAR)/ SLET/Lecturer fellowship and M.Phil. will be given priority.
  • The candidates will have to go through the written test and to qualify this exam they should score a minimum of 50 marks.
  • Interview/Viva Voce Will be conducted by the respective department.

Eligibility Criteria

Candidates having Master’s Degree in Engineering & Technology with 60% marks in aggregate or CGPA 6.5 on 10.00 point scale and 55% marks in aggregate in Science/Humanities for General category. 5% marks relaxation will be given to SC/ST/PWD category in both the cases. Applicants, who wish to pursue Ph.D. while in employment /service, need to submit NOC from (Annexure-IV) their employer at the time of counselling cum admission.
