Sam Higginbottom Institute of Agriculture Technology and Science was established as Allahabad Agricultural Institute in 1910 by the Uttar Pradesh Legislature Act and Sam Higginbottom Educational and Charitable Society. The institute was declared deemed to be university in 2000. In 2009 the name Sam Higginbottom University of Agriculture, Technology and Sciences was changed to Sam Higginbottom Institute of Agriculture Technology and Science. SHUATS Allahabad is accredited by the National Assessment and Accreditation Council with grade A. The university is also accredited by the Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR) and the Indian Council of Forest Research Education (ICFRE). SHUATS Allahabad is also ISO 9001:2015 certified institution.
