Kashmir University

The State University of Kashmir is called the University of Kashmir (KU), and it was founded in 1948. The UGC has authorised Kashmir University, and as of 2023, it is ranked 33 overall in the NIRF rankings.  KU received an "A+" mark from NAAC. More than 16,000 students are enrolled in the more than 70 programmes that the University of Kashmir provides. Kashmir University has 408 faculty members in all, and its campus spans over 328 acres. The KU courses are offered in all the major faculties such as Arts, Business and Management Studies, Education, Law, Applied Sciences and Technology, Biological Sciences, Physical and material Sciences, Social Sciences, Medicine, Dentistry, Engineering, Oriental Learning and Music and Fine Arts. It has been constantly introducing innovative/ new programmes to cater to the needs and demands of the students and society. 

Students selected for Kashmir University admission to various courses/programmes in the university are eligible to receive two merit KU scholarships which are paid to the top two merit holders. The Kashmir University facilities are offered to the eligible students from different levels of courses studying at the university. The University of Kashmir offers courses at the undergraduate and graduate levels. There are numerous specialisations available at Kashmir University. Entrance exams are used for admission to the University of Kashmir. The reserved category fills the remaining seats, leaving the open merit category to fill the remaining 67% of seats.

Kashmir University Scholarship

Many scholarships are offered by the University of Kashmir. Kashmir University scholarships include merit scholarships, research scholarships and student aid. Kashmir University merit scholarships are available to students who have taken admission in any of the courses. Two KU merit scholarships are available for the eligible students. University of Kashmir merit scholarships are given to the top two merit holders. One merit scholarship is offered based on merit in the entrance examination while the second merit scholarship is offered based on merit in the first and second-semester examination. Kashmir University scholarships also include research scholarships. Four scholarships are awarded from each department for carrying out research leading to the award of PhD/MPhil degrees. Students aid is also a scholarship awarded by KU. KU student aid scheme is given to meritorious students who come from low income families. This University of Kashmir scholarship comes under the ‘Student Aid Scheme’.

The law faculty of the University of Kashmir is the best in the entire valley of Kashmir. It has a robust law society with an incredible staff. The environment is serene as well with magnificent university gardens and parks.

Excellent, the university has WiFi connectivity and overall infrastructure is nice. Some old buildings might need little bit of renovation, otherwise the university has up-to-date infrastructure and facilities.
