The institute proposes two full-time programmes in the education field: B.Ed. and M.Ed.
The total approved number of student intakes for this programme is 100 under the IIERD B.Ed programme. IGC Institute of Educational Research and Development admission to the B.Ed. programme is based on merit determined by qualifying examination and/or entrance examination marks. All procedures and modalities for selection are in compliance with the directives of the state government, UT administration, and the affiliated university. Candidates who have completed a bachelor's degree or an equivalent qualification from a recognised university are eligible to apply.
The institution has an M.Ed. programme with an approved intake of 50 students. The entry in the M.Ed is also based on merit evaluation of marks obtained in the qualifying or entrance examination. Other conditions as prescribed by the notification of the government/university/UT at the time of admission will also be applicable. Generally, candidates having a B.Ed or equivalent from a recognised university are eligible for the M.Ed programme.
