The Regional Institute of Education, Ajmer is a constituent unit of NCERT, New Delhi. The institute was established in 1963 and is an autonomous organisation under the Ministry of Education, Government of India. The institute was established with a vision to prepare quality teachers in science, humanities, commerce, agriculture and technology.
The Regional Institute of Education, Ajmer looks after the educational interests of the Northern region comprising the states of Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, Punjab, Rajasthan, Uttarakhand, Uttar Pradesh, the National Capital Territory of Delhi and the Union Territory of Chandigarh, Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh. It is affiliated with the Maharishi Dayanand Saraswati University, Ajmer (MDU) and its courses are recognised by the NCTE, New Delhi. It is controlled and managed by the NCERT.
The institute offers programs at the undergraduate, postgraduate and doctoral levels. The institute offers five courses - B.Sc. B.Ed. integrated program, B.Ed, B.A. B.Ed. integrated program, M.Ed. and Ph.D. in education. The institute is known for its excellence in teaching and research. The Institute is situated six km away from the Ajmer Railway Station in the midst of idyllic surroundings with the historic Anasagar Lake in front and the Aravali hills all around. It is almost equidistant from the world-famous dargah of Khawaja Moinuddin Chisti beyond the lake and the holy place of hindu pilgrimage, Pushkar, at the back. This Institute, with its spacious buildings, playgrounds, gardens, and lawn is spread over an area of 110 acres. The Ajmer bus station is about 5.5 km away from the institute. You can hire a cab or taxi to reach the institute.
