    B.A. (Hons.) Economics

The economics major at the School of Liberal Arts trains students in the field of economics in an interdisciplinary setting. Economics is the study of how societies allocate scarce resources and make decisions. It is a discipline that provides insights into a wide range of real-world issues, including inflation, unemployment, economic growth, trade policies, and market structures. Economics combines theoretical models with empirical analysis to help understand human behaviour, markets, and institutions.

The economics program is designed to: (i) provide students with a strong foundation in microeconomics and macroeconomics in the first two semesters; (ii) develop analytical skills through rigorous coursework in econometrics, mathematical economics, and applied economics in the following semesters: and (iii) offer advanced electives and research opportunities in areas such as development economics, public policy, and financial economics in the final year.

Theory courses – 3-4 lectures a week depending on course credits, each lasting 55 minutes.

Research courses – Data-driven assignments and projects.

The curriculum is designed to offer a strong academic foundation through Major-Core courses, complemented by Major-Electives for added specialization.
