HPU Shimla Facilities Details: Hostel, Campus, Infrastructure, Library, Canteen

The campus has four boys hostels. The rooms of the boys hostel are spacious and ventilated. All four hostels combined provide accommodation to approximately 593 students. Himachal Pradesh University hostel facilities are a mess, common room, indoor games etc.

There are 11 girls hostels within the university campus. Around 1176 students can be accommodated in the 11 hostels. The residents of girls hostels are provided with facilities like a reading room, common room, mess, indoor games etc.

HPU Shimla health centre is one of the best health centres in the state. It provides primary care facilities to the students, teaching and non-teaching staff. The health centre has a modern laboratory, dispensary and MI room for women. Himachal Pradesh University health facilities are also provided to the people living in the proximity.

The university has both indoor and outdoor sports facilities for the students. Himachal Pradesh University Shimla sports teams organise and participate in a number of sports tournaments every year. 

The University has the sports facilities for all students.

Computer Centre in the Himachal Pradesh University was established in 1986 with the initial financial support of the University Grants Commission. Spread over an area of about 3000 sq. feet, the Computer Centre started functioning with a 68010 based Super Micro – 32 with just five terminals. Now it is equipped with the latest hardware like Compaq Servers and Pentium based nodes and latest software. It offers computing facilities to students of dept. of computer science as well as to students of other departments. It provides consultancy to various departments as and when required.

The canteen serves hygienic food and beverages to the students and faculty members of the university. With reasonable prices and a wide variety of food, the canteen is one of the favourite spots for the students.

The university has an auditorium where academic and cultural activities are conducted. The auditorium is spacious and has modern facilities. The auditorium has a seating capacity of 750 people.

The alumni of the varsity remained intact through the HPU Shimla alumni association. Alumni meets are organised at regular intervals

The computer centre of the varsity was established in 1976. It has the latest hardware and software like Compaq Servers and Pentium based nodes. All the computers of the university have LAN connectivity and have antivirus software.
