The university will release the HPU merit list for the candidates wishing to enrol in UG and PG courses. The HPU 2025-26 merit list will be made available online. Candidates must go to the university's official web portal to see the HPU merit list. The HPU Shimla merit list will also be posted on the university's bulletin board and in a renowned newspaper. Candidates should be aware that the HPU merit list comprises information such as the course chosen, the grades earned, and the category.

Candidates who are chosen will be required to attend an HPU counselling session on the university's campus. Selected candidates must be at the HPU counselling location on time and with all relevant documentation. HPU counselling is the university's final step in the admissions process.

The university provides reservation for candidates enrolling from minority communities. Candidates from the SC/ST category will receive a 5% discount on all major programmes at the university. Every department has at least one seat earmarked for a single girl child applicant. In every department, two seats would be reserved for candidates from Jammu & Kashmir. One spot will be allotted for candidates who apply under the physically challenged category. Candidates may also apply for admission through the sports and cultural quotas for select programmes.

HPU Shimla Admissions 2025-26 - Refusal of Admission

• Regardless of the guidelines, a student will be denied admission if his or her behaviour during any previous stay at the University has been poor.

• A student who has been expelled or rusticated is not permitted to enrol in any course of study without the Vice-prior Chancellor's approval.

• A student who has been disqualified by a university will not be admitted during the time that he or she is disqualified.

• A student's admission can be revoked at any moment if it is discovered that he or she provided false information or omitted facts in order to gain admission.

• If a student fails to follow the directions/instructions/requirements within the time frame set by the ICDEOL, his or her admission will be revoked.

• If a student misbehaves or does not observe decorum, or engages in disrupting the functioning of ICDEOL and/or the University in speeches or in writing without valid reasons, and if it is later discovered that the candidate provided incorrect information or a fake certificate, the fee paid by the candidate will be forfeited.
