24 MonthsMaster of Science (M.Sc) in Chemistry is a full-time two-year postgraduate course offered by the Himachal Pradesh University, Shimla.
Note: 40 Subsidized + 17 Non-Subsidised Seats + 3 In-service teachers+3 wards of HPU employees + 1 Single Girl Child.
Eligibility Criteria
A Bachelor's degree of a University established by law in India (with the subject of study for M.A./M.Sc. as one of the subjects) with a minimum of 48 credits in Major subject, 48 credits in two minor subjects, 9 credits in compulsory, 1 credit in GI & hobby with aggregate of 106 credits for the award of pass degree.
OR
A Bachelor's degree with II Division or with at least 45% marks (40% in case of SC/ST candidates) In aggregate in the subject concerned in three years of degree or Honours in the subject concerned. In case of Physics the candidate must have passed B.Sc/B.A. with Mathematics as an elective subject.
Admission Details
- The admission to these courses will be made strictly on the basis of marks obtained in the Entrance Test and shall be open to all, subject to the reservation approved by the University. The merit will be determined on the basis of competitive examination.
- The minimum qualifying marks for the Entrance Test will be 35% (in case of SC/ST candidates, the minimum qualifying marks shall be reduced until the full SC/ST quota for admission has been exhausted) for calling the candidates for Interview/Admission.

College Infrastructure
HPU has a spacious and scenic campus located on a hilltop, offering a peaceful academic atmosphere. Classrooms, libraries, and labs are generally well-maintained. The central library is a major asset, though some departments have better facilities than others.

College Infrastructure
The infrastructure of Himachal Pradesh University Shimla is not up to the mark because of its geographical location it is quite a tough and costly task to develop good infrastructure here for University.
