Post Doctoral Fellowship In Management at IIM Amritsar Offline Course

Post-Doctoral Fellowship Program at IIM Amritsar aims to provide an opportunity to young research scholars to pursue active research in their respective field of specialization (or an interdisciplinary field) within broad contours of business management. It is a fulltime program with a duration of two years, extendable for another year subject to the satisfactory progress. During the program, the post-doctoral fellows will be undertaking their research work in collaboration with the existing faculty member(s) of IIM Amritsar. They are expected to carry out high-quality research work leading to the publications in reputed international journals. Apart from their research activities, post-doctoral fellows are expected to assist faculty member(s) in their teaching activities. 

Structure of the Program

• The duration of the fellowship will be for two years, extendable for another year subject to satisfactory performance. Institute will not extend the fellowship beyond three years
• Post-doctoral fellows would undertake their research activities in collaboration with the faculty members of IIM Amritsar.
• Apart from the research activities, post-doctoral fellows are expected to assist their research area faculty member(s) in their teaching activities. Such academic assistance is expected to help the fellows to gain first-hand experience in teaching.
• Fellowship Program Committee will meet once in six months to review the research progress of post-doctoral fellows.
• By the end of two years, a fellow is expected to complete a minimum of two research papers (other than the fellow’s doctoral research work), either in terms of under reviews or accepted or published in the reputed international journals (with at least category B in ABDC journal rankings).
• At the end of the two years, the Fellowship Program Committee will review the research contributions of the fellows. Based on the adequacy of the fellow’s research contribution, the committee may recommend the award of Certificate of Completion, Post-Doctoral Fellowship Program at IIM Amritsar. If the committee finds that fellow’s progress is satisfactory, the committee may recommend the extension of the fellowship up to one year.
• During the program, post-doctoral fellows are also expected to complete the suggested coursework. The coursework requirement is customized to provide the fellows exposure to other functional areas of management along with quantitative/qualitative research methods.
• The post-doctoral fellows will conform to all the rules and regulations of the institute governing the services of its employees. They are currently in vague and will be announced from time to time.
• The post-doctoral fellows may avail the leaves of up to 24 days (on a pro-rata basis) in a calendar year as per the institute’s leave policy.
• During the fellowship program, the institute may terminate the fellowship or a post-doctoral fellow may leave the program after giving one month’s notice. No reason for termination needs be assigned by either party.

Financial assistance

IIM Amritsar provides limited financial aid to its post-doctoral fellows (from the date of joining). The details of the same are as follows:

• A consolidated fellowship amount of Rs 50,000 (Rupees fifty thousand only) per month
• Rs. 30,000 per year as the contingency grant to cover expenses related to attending conferences, workshops, purchase of books, and relevant research activities on a reimbursement basis, upon production of receipts.
• Rs.1,00,000/- (upper limit) for attending one international conference during their entire tenure with the post-doctoral program, on a reimbursement basis, upon production of receipts. This conference grant can be accessed only after completing the first year of the fellowship program and submission of one joint research paper with IIM Amritsar faculty member for publication in a reputed journal (with at least category B in ABDC journal rankings).
• Personal medical insurance cover as per the institute’s student welfare policy.
• Post-doctoral fellows may be provided with teaching opportunities. Institute will pay an honorarium for such activities in addition to the fellowship.
