Hello,

The BS-MS course of IISERs provide standard education when compared to the traditional B.Sc and M.Sc degrees. Also this similar to Integrated M.Sc where you can complete BS and MS continously without applying once again.

The course usually teach foundation courses in physics, mathematics, biology, chemistry for first 3 years and Major (one from Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Mathematics) for the last 2 years. In B.Sc. say Zoology you dont come across such foundation courses, you readily get into subject in the first semster itself or into a bridge but that only spans for one or two semesters.

If you are looking for research especially inter-disciplinary one, you can opt BS-MS. You can enter in this course through KVPY, JEE or Exam for students qualified the Board Examination of Class 12.

For IISER, Category wise class 10+2 CBSE board cutoff is :

GENERAL : 431/500

OBC-NCL : 420/500

SC : 401/500

ST : 385 /500

And apart from that, you need to appear for IISER Aptitude test (IAT) which is conducted all over India in various states and if you qualify that according to the cutoffs then only you will be eligible for admission in IISERs.

Hope that helps!

Hello studnet,

For SCB channel, candidates have to qualify the aptitude test. After that, students will be called for counselling on the basis of cut off marks.

The cut off percentage for SCB channel varies from state to state. As you asked for Andhra Pradesh it is somewhere around 94-95 percent.

Hope it helps.

Thank you :)

Hello,

Usually original question papers are unavailable and most candidates rely on the model question papers. Model question papers are not available for I.PhD of IISER. Often only BS-MS model question papers are available. You may go through it and as well practise with the syllabus available in the website.

Generally they ask on basics and their applications. You may also practise the question papers of JAM available on the website of JAM of each year.

In IISER, for applying through SCB channel, only Physics and Chemistry are mandatory subjects. Since the IAT aptitude test conducts the exam with Physics, Chemistry, Biology and Maths with equal weightage, you need to study Mathematics too, whether or not you had Maths in class 12.

No, it is not mandatory to have maths as one of your optional subjects at plus two level for BS-MS degree programmes. However, for admission to BS degree programmes in Economics and Engineering  sciences at IISER Bhopal, Mathematics as one of the subjects at +2 level is mandatory.

Hi Koesha..

Both NEST and IISER are national level exams and many candidates have applied for both exams.

The concerned authority will must kept this thing on mind. So, one can expect the date of IISER 2019 after or before NEST exam.

For clarification, you can contact to NEST exam conducting Authority.

Thanks
