All IISERs conduct a viva/interview for the integrated PhD programs, a written examination is very rare and that too for chemistry, moreover it is not predecided and totally depends on the number of applications that an institute recieves and the number of positions/seats available. You can apply to desired IISERs pan India and then can contact them individually for further details. Good Luck!

Hello Shubham Sahu,

There are very less chances that you will get admission in IITs for M.Sc.in Chemistry.

but you can get IISERs for M.Sc. Previous Year, Closing rank for M.Sc.in Chemistry in OBC Category was AIR 839 for IIT Jodhpur. Since IISERs are second priority for candidates. So you can expect admission in IISER.

Good Luck.

Dear Prashant,

Indian Institutes of Science Education and Research (IISER) will conduct admisison through 3 channels  KVPY, JEE, and SCB.

Those Candidates which opting for SCB channel, aptitude test wil consist of four subjects of equal weightage: Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, and Biology.

15 questions will be asked from each subject. There will be total of 60 questions. Duration of test will be 3 hours.

Hope this is helpful for you.

Good Luck!

Hello Dharmendra Kumar Pandit. Thanks for contacting Careers360 and we hope we will be able to answer your query.

Please note that the IISERs are among the premier academic institutions in the country that accept admissions to its courses through JEE Advanced ranks. So, obviously the level of input you should put into your JEE preparation should be quite high.

I would like to direct your attention to this link for more information about the cutoffs for IISERs:

Also, please see the eligibility criteria here:

Hope this helps you and all the best!

Dear Student,

Yes, you can apply for IISER.

You can take admission in this college through KVPY, JEE or SCB channel.

You can check the elgibility criteria below

https://www.iiseradmission.in/?page_id=8

Good Luck!!

IISER would be a very good option if you are interested in pure sciences and I really think if you want BS you need not go abroad. IISER and IISC would be really good. Though you can go for PhD in any good country you like. As for the preparation, jee advanced preparation would be great as you will have enough time to prepare for it and might get iiser is you rank within 10,000. However, if you do choose to prepare only for jee main, you might get iisc bangalore (at a very high score though) and engineering as well.

Also, for iiser there are two more ways of getting in-

  1. Kvpy (one of the most reputed scholarship examinations)- need to have good rank in it.
  2. Scb (only top 1%of board students are allowed) - 50%of the seats at iiser are alloted through the IAT exam they conduct.

Hope you decide what's best for you!

All the best for the future!

Hello Devendra Yadav. Thanks for contacting Careers360 and we hope we will be able to answer your query.

Note that the IISERs are among the few academic institutions in the country that accept JEE Advanced scores for admissions other than the IITs. So, obviously the level of input you would have to put into your preparation is very high.

The eligibility criteria on the basis of Advanced ranks is as follows:

  • Candidates in General category securing a rank within 10000 in the Common Rank List (CRL) of JEE Advanced 2018 are eligible to apply.
  • For candidates belonging to reserved category (OBCNC, SC, ST, PD), their category rank should be within 10000.

I would like to direct your attention to this Careers360 article for upto date information on the cutoffs for the IISERs:
