72 MonthsDoctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Performing Arts is an offered Full-time three/to six-year Doctoral program, and it is offered by Mahapurusha Srimanta Sankaradeva Viswavidyalaya, Nagaon. The Ph.D. program shall be for a minimum duration of three years, including coursework, and a maximum of six years. Extension beyond the above limits will be governed by the relevant clauses as stipulated in the Statute/Ordinance of the individual Institution concerned.
Eligibility Criteria
The student should have passed the M.Phil/PhD: Post Graduate students in Performing Arts (Dance/Music/Theatre) from this University or any other University/Institute recognised as equivalent by this University, securing a minimum 55% mark, are eligible to appear in the MSSVRAT. 5% marks will be relaxed for the candidates of the reserved category. Under special circumstances, a candidate may be allowed by the Research Council on the recommendation of the Departmental Research Committee to pursue the course in a subject other than one in which he/she obtained a Master's Degree, provided that the Research Council is satisfied that the branches are interrelated and the candidate is competent to undertake the programme in the particular subject.
Admission Details
⦁ The selection of the candidates for admission shall be made on the basis of the results of the Mahapurusha Srimanta Sankaradeva Viswavidyalaya Research Admission Test (MSSVRAT) and Viva-voce.
⦁ The UGC-NET/JRF or passed M.Phil. Degree (through Regular mode only) in Performing Arts, i.e., dance, music, and theatre, will be exempted from the written examination of MSSVRAT in case of admission in the Ph.D Programme. However, they shall have to appear in the Viva-voce examination.
