72 MonthsDoctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) is an offered Full-time three/six-year Doctoral program and it is offered by the National Institute of Technology Meghalaya. Ph.D. program shall be for a minimum duration of three years, including course work and a maximum of six years. Extension beyond the above limits will be governed by the relevant clauses as stipulated in the Statute/Ordinance of the individual Institution concerned.

Eligibility Criteria
For Full Time Scholars: Master’s degree in Engineering/ Science/ Technology/ Humanities and Social Sciences/ Management Sciences/ or Master’s degree in the allied subjects with consistently good academic record and a minimum of 60% (55% in case of Humanities and Social Sciences) marks or an equivalent CGPA in the Master’s degree. Candidates with B.E. / B. Tech. with an aggregate of 75% marks or equivalent GPA with valid GATE score will also be eligible.
For Sponsored (Part-Time Scholars): Master’s degree in Engineering/ Science/ Technology/ Humanities and Social Sciences/ Management Sciences/ or Master’s degree in the allied subjects with consistently good academic record and a minimum of 60% (55% in case of Humanities and Social Sciences) marks or an equivalent CGPA in the Master’s degree. Candidates with B.E. / B. Tech. with an aggregate of 60% marks or equivalent CGPA are eligible. The candidate’s age should not be more than 58. A certificate/declaration of sponsorship from the sponsoring body must be submitted by the applicant at the time of applying for the application and admission process.
Eligibility criteria will be relaxed by 5% marks or 0.5 CGPA for SC/ST/PWD category applicants as per GOI Norms.
Admission Details
Eligible candidates may be required to appear for a written test in respect of his/ her discipline. Shortlisted candidates based on performance in the written test will be called for interview. Both written tests and interviews may be completed on the same day. It may be extended for one more day based on the number of candidates appearing for an interview.
