The department of Automobile Engineering was started during the academic year 2009-2010 by offering a Four Year undergraduate program in Bachelor of Engineering. The department has highly qualified faculty members and non-teaching staff. The department has a high scope of job opportunity in the related field as Chennai is one of the main hubs for Automotive and related industries. The faculty members of the department are specialized in diversified fields holding the doctoral degree in various disciplines. The Post Graduate Two Tear Course – Master of Engineering in Automobile was started in the academic year 2014-2015. Along with the master’s degree, our department enjoys the privilege of Full and Part time doctoral degree program for Internal and External scholars.

Apart from the regular academic schedule, industrial visits, tours, conferences, technical trainings, webinars, workshops, internship trainings, technical fests were organized to enhance the knowledge of the students. The department is well equipped with a fully functional automotive workshop with fuel injection calibration machine, crank shaft grinding machine, brake drum skimming lathe, engine analyzer, diesel smoke meter, automatic tyre changer, engine analyzer, wheel balancer and wheel alignment machine. It also has sufficient number of fully ventilated classrooms with projectors along with the air conditioned smart classroom. The department library holds all hard and e-copy of the latest Automobile engineering books. The department is located at the foot of Vellimalai lush green hill eye catching environment. Besides achieving these services, the department works hard its best to attain greater heights by putting higher technical education on the right path to accelerate progress of our nation.

Eligibility Criteria

Master's degree or a professional degree declared equivalent to the Master’s degree by the corresponding statutory regulatory body, with at least 55% marks in aggregate or its equivalent grade 'B' in the UGC 7-point scale (or an equivalent grade in a point scale wherever grading system is followed) or an equivalent degree from a foreign educational Institution accredited by an Assessment and Accreditation Agency which is approved, recognized or authorized by an authority, established or incorporated under a law in its home country or any other statutory authority in that country for the purpose of assessing, accrediting or assuring quality and standards of educational institutions.

Candidates who have cleared the M.Phil. course work with at least 55% marks in aggregate or its equivalent grade 'B' in the UGC 7-point scale (or an equivalent grade in a point scale wherever grading system is followed) and successfully completing the M.Phil. Degree shall be eligible to proceed to do research work leading to the Ph. D. Degree in the same Institution in an integrated programme. A relaxation of 5% of marks, from 55% to 50%, or an equivalent relaxation of grade, may be allowed for those belonging to SC/ST/OBC(non-creamy layer)/differently-abled and other categories of candidates as per the decision of the Commission from time to time.
