According to WHO, India has one of the highest mental health issues ranging from adjustment problems to severe psychotic disorders. Clinical psychology assesses and treats mental illness, abnormal behaviour, and a variety of psychiatric issues. The number of trained professionals in India is meagre. In the present society, there is an increased demand for Clinical Psychologists in the specialized areas of paediatrics, mental health, learning disabilities, substance abuse, etc.
Apart from the mental health field, Clinical Psychologists have got larger scope to work in wellness-promotion centres, Legal settings, Rehabilitation centres, NGOs, Schools, Colleges, and different organizational setups for getting involved in academic careers (teaching and research).
Passed with at least 45% (40% in case the candidates belong to reserved category) in Intermediate (10+2) or equivalent with Botany, Zoology, Physics and Chemistry or Inter vocational with Bridge course of Biological and Physical Sciences (or) APOSS with Biological Sciences and Physical Sciences and should have completed 17 years as on 31st December.
