    Masters in Television Studies is a full time 2 year Four Semester duration master degree course and it is offered by the University of Mumbai, Mumbai.

    Television has become today the major force of information, education, and entertainment. As a traditional medium, Television has evolved too largely due to innovations in this field. Therefore, learning is a must if one intends to work in the field of Television today. Masters in Television Studies is designed to offer full-fledged training to students in the field Television to help them pursue their goals both in the fields of academics and media industry. The course has been designed with the help of industry professionals and alumni. The internal staff, as well as professionals from the industry, will be conducting the lectures. The Department has a full-fledged computer lab and can impart industry-oriented training for the course.  

    This program that combines both theory and practice will help students learn and practice the important aspects of Television as a medium. Students are introduced to Television Theory, Visual Communication, New Media, Television as Medium, Television Genre – News and Education, Media Research, Writing for Television, Television Production techniques, Post and Production techniques. The learning will also involve practical in each subject so as to help students gain practical experience in the field of Film making. The course will culminate with dissertations that involve continuous evaluation of the dissertation of the learners.


    Eligibility Criteria

    Students who have passed a bachelor’s course from any discipline / faculty of a recognized (by UGC-DE Council or any other the competent body appointed for the said purpose by the due authority) university in India or the degree from any foreign university, which has been approved by UGC/Association of Indian Universities and is considered equivalent and at par with Indian Degrees. In case of more applications are received than the sanctioned strength then Merit-Wise entrance test will be the criteria for selection. Reservations as per University rules will be applicable.
