I have to admit that the infrastructure is probably the best part of being here. I was relieved to find that our college is air-conditioned, which is a lifesaver during Kolkata's brutal summers. The Journalism and Mass Communication department specifically has a media lab and I wish I got more hands-on time there. My main critique is that I feel I am sharing too much space with the school section which makes the campus feel smaller than I would like.
I find that the quality of academics depends heavily on the individual professor, especially in my department. Some of the faculty members are incredible and imparts a lot of knowledge but I have also felt frustrated by some professors who stick rigidly to the Calcutta University syllabus and rely too much on basic theory.
This is the area where I feel the most disappointed as a Journalism and Mass Communication student. I see very few, low-paying job opportunities that comes for placement for my stream. I am building my resume as I cannot rely solely on the college placements for a career in my field.
I have found a great circle of friends and that has made my experience enjoyable. The college has some cool cultural fests and I have really enjoyed participating in various societies. However, I must tell that the college has a restrictive environment compared to other colleges in Kolkata.
The infrastructure was typical of an older city college when I was studying. The location was right next to the busy Sealdah area and so, sometimes, I felt the campus was always a bit too crowded and chaotic on the outside. Inside, the classrooms were large but sometimes lacked proper ventilation, especially during the hotter months of the year. I often utilized the library and it was beneficial but I cannot say I was ever truly impressed by the overall building maintenance or the modern amenities.
The main asset of this college was the faculty. They were experienced and taught well, especially in Financial Accounting and Taxation, which gave me a very strong foundation. The flexible attendance was also a huge plus as it allowed me to do a part time job while completing my degree.
Placement for general Bachelor of Commerce students was very weak. I saw almost no big companies visit for recruitment. Few students got jobs through the college and those offers were usually low-paying from small local companies.
Campus life was friendly but small. Since the college grounds were not large, there was not a big area for outdoor sports. Nevertheless, the annual college fest and cultural events like Saraswati Puja were always energetic and fun.
The campus is excellent, modern and located right in the heart of Kolkata. We get fully air-conditioned lecture halls, reliable internet facility and a comfortable library. I am docking a point only because the elevators are frustratingly slow and crowded during class changes, often forcing me to take the stairs.
Academics are a mixed bag. Some professors use great practical examples, making the concepts easier to understand. However, quality is inconsistent across the board, and many classes rush only to complete the Calcutta University syllabus, which means I rely heavily on self-study for real depth.
Placement efforts are strong and attract big firms. While the placement cell helps with workshops, the issue is not the effort but it is the intense competition. The class size for Bachelor of Commerce is so large, the highest-tier opportunities are reserved for the top performers. For the majority of students, securing a good placement requires far more effort beyond just decent academic scores.
Absolutely vibrant and busy, earning a perfect score. The best part is the sheer number of activities, major fests and student committees, which guarantee engagement and a strong social scene. The college gives us excellent freedom to organize and run these events, making the experience memorable.
College campus is clean and the environment of the college is nice and good. The college is reasonably well maintained. The classrooms are adequately spaced and library resources are decent and well maintained.
I pursued accountancy honours, and the faculty are excellent and very knowledgeable, supporting and always encouraging practical learning. The guidance makes complex concept very interesting and fun.
Placement support is improving over the years more campus recruitment drives have been happening for commerce related roles such as accounting, auditors, and entry level finance position companies like TCS also visit the campus for recruitment.
Great campus life
The building has a lovely old-world charm and the large auditorium is great for fests. For Journalism and Mass Communication, there is no dedicated, modern media studio and we rely on one small, adequate laboratory. Outside of class, there is hardly anywhere comfortable or spacious enough for me and my friends to sit and collaborate.
The professors in my department are genuinely the best part of my course and they are the reason I give this a high rating. They bring serious, up-to-date industry experience into the classroom and I feel like I am getting practical knowledge that I can actually use in the field. They focus heavily on how the media world actually operates, not just stale theory and I really value that real-world insight.
This is the area where the college fails. I have not seen any serious recruitment efforts in journalism or media production. A very few companies appear and offer a very low package. I feel completely unsupported throughout the whole placement process.
The student community is the absolute heartbeat of my experience, earning this section a perfect rating. Despite the small physical campus, the supportive, sisterly atmosphere makes me feel secure and deeply connected every day.
Great infrastructure in the college every class have great boards and presentation skills board that is valuable. Hyganic food clean campus .liabary have many books that are valuable and silence that is very much needed.
I have studied b.com . Faculty are grate , helpful and keep nd . When ever I have face any problem. They helped me a lot in that time. Course subjects are insight full . That give me real life skills of problem solving.
Placement is not there in the college. No college have come to the college for capturing students for their organisation. That is an area where the college can improve and if they done that it will be good
Not that much

Great
Yes it has all necessary infrastructure, facilities and equipment. There are approx 50 benches in each room with the projector to present or teach with the laptop. This college has the Asia's largest workshop containing all the equipment and have a better pratical knowledge in the domain. There are particular rooms for indoor games, dancing, singing, gym, and computer labs. There is a library containing all the major books we require. It also has a vast playground for the outdoor games. Yes the hostels are regularly cleaned and food are hygienic.
I am pursuing B.Tech in Production and Industrial Engineering. The teachers are well qualified and provides notes and teaching style are good. Yes, it contains some recent developments in the field not all. Yes, this college makes us ready for the real world.
There is 100% placement till now in our college. The highest salary package is 14 LPA. The average salary in 7-8 LPA. The placement process is quite good having students has major role and no communication gap with each other.
The campus life is good. There are supportive teachers and helpful. The students can engage in all indoor and outdoor games. They can also have tech field activities. Dancing, singing, drama, gym , open mic are also what students can do. The students, teachers and support staff come from all over india, we can see diff religion and culture in our college. Yes it is safe.and can handle emergencies.
The college is good. It's placement crosses some of the nits. You can prefer this college over lower NITS.
I remember the campus was quite small back then, mainly just the main building. My Electronics and Communication Engineering department laboratories were functional and I had the equipments needed for my coursework but I did not find much open or green space for me to relax or hang out, making the environment feel compact.
I feel the academic standard was very high. The syllabus was demanding and I learned a tremendous amount about my core subjects. Most of my professors had a lot of knowledge and they pushed me hard, which I now realise was important for my career.
I was very content with the placement opportunities presented to me and my batchmates. The placement cell worked hard, and most of the students were able to secure a job during the campus drive. I feel the college name carried significant weight and therefore we used to get a lot of placement options.
My campus life was extremely strict. I was required to wear a uniform, and the attendance rules were inflexible, leaving me little room for freedom or enjoyment. I feel I missed out on a typical college life experience as my time was strictly managed and focused on classroom attendance.
I was absolutely stunned by the massive size of the campus as it felt like a small-contained city to me. I found the Electronics and Electrical Communication Engineering department and research laboratories well-equipped. I spent countless hours in the amazing central library.
My Master of Technology course was extremely rigorous and I loved that I was constantly challenged. I felt I was being taught by some of the most educated professors in my field, and I gained deep, socialized knowledge through my thesis work.
I secured a fantastic job effortlessly during the campus placements. I know the top core companies valued my specialization, and I found the placement process to be very efficient and successful for me.
I experienced great independence living in the hall of residence. I truly enjoyed the late-night talks and activities that me and my friends used to do. The college environment is fun but focused. Sometimes, I had to study during my free time because of the vast syllabus.
I have always appreciated having a dedicated research desk and reliable internet access in the department which is an essential part for a Doctor of Philosophy student. The laboratories were continuously upgraded, allowing me to conduct cutting-edge experiments for my thesis.
The research environment was exceptional and my supervisor pushed me to think globally and aim for top-tier conferences. I also valued the weekly research seminars and the ability to collaborate freely with the professors from other departments on interdisciplinary projects.
I rate this lower because I did not use the central placement cell. I handled my job search individually. I heard that the placement cell was more active for the students of Bachelor of Technology and Master of Technology course. For me my course was more about creating career options than being placed by a recruiter, so I had to be proactive in networking and showcasing my original work.
I enjoyed a unique sense of community because I lived in the hall for many years alongside with other scholars, especially fellow researchers. I found my social life centered on my department colleagues and research group, which was perfect for me at that stage.
