I am 3rd year BTech IT student at St. Joseph's College of Engineering, OMR Chennai. The college has good buildings and classrooms are clean and well maintained. The labs are okay with required software but sometime machines take time to start up. Campus is calm and keep neat with enough place for group study. Overall infrastructure is enough for student learning.
Teachers are okay, syllabus is manageable but some subjects feel bit lengthy and tough. They mostly give us notes and slides for easy learning. We have to work hard on our own for programming subjects. There are seminars and workshops but they are not very frequent. I like how college encourages to participate in competitions like hackathon, ideathon etc, this help to improve skill better.
I joined Full Stack placement empowerment program from my college, this helped me learning domain knowledge and coding skills. Placements are mostly IT related as compared to other jobs. Placement cell gives training sessions and mock interviews but sometimes schedule clashes with regular classes. Overall college support is good for placements and motivates us to improve.
Campus life is fun with many events happening every year like sports, cultural fests, technical events and club activities. But college has strict rules on attendance and dress code which sometimes feel stressful. Still, friends and clubs make it enjoyable. The security is good and campus feels safe. Social activities help me refresh from studies.
