The four-year BA Social Science programme at Azim Premji University offers students a broad-based, multi-disciplinary immersion in the study of Indian society — its structures, institutions, and lived realities.

The vision for the major is grounded in the conviction that at a time when our society appears to be increasingly fragmented and fractured, higher education in the social sciences, especially at the undergraduate level, ought to approach the ‘social’ in an integrated fashion.

This requires putting theoretical and methodological practices of the traditional social science disciplines like sociology, anthropology, history, political science, etc., into conversation with each other, such that they best illuminate our social condition for both critical analyses and transformative action.

Eligibility Criteria

Students who are currently pursuing or have completed Grade 12 or its equivalent from a recognized board in India or abroad (such as ISC, CBSE, State Boards, NIOS, IB, or Cambridge International A levels) are eligible to apply for our Undergraduate programmes. At the time of joining, the proof of successful completion of Grade 12 or its equivalent must be submitted.

Admission Details

The selection process for the Undergraduate Programme include:

1 Entrance Test:

Part A (Multiple Choice) * - Test that will assess the English language capacities and quantitative capacities.

Part B - Written component: Applicants will have to write an essay/ data analysis/ problem solving based on their major preference which would assess writing and analytical skills.

2 Personal Interview:

Shortlisted Candidates will be called for a personal interview.

College Infrastructure

In terms of infrastructure, the university campus is clean, eco-friendly, and peaceful with modern classrooms, a well-maintained library, and good hostel facilities. The learning environment is academically oriented and suitable for focused studies. However, compared to larger private universities, the campus facilities and recreational options are relatively limited, and some students may find the campus life less vibrant.
