Media research is an important part of media studies and Times School of Media would like its researchers and scholars to create a body of work that is relevant to today’s media.
The School is particularly keen to encourage and guide scholars who want to look beyond traditional qualitative and quantitative research. We would like our research scholars to come up with solutions that can be adopted by the industry.
The last two decades have seen a quantum shift in the creation and distribution of news, and the tsunami of change triggered by technology is yet to run its course. Anyone can be a publisher and influencer today. More than that, anyone can change the course and direction of media.
These are exciting times. Creation, dissemination and consumption of information is being reshaped at a bewildering pace. The need of the hour is new ideas, ideas that are the product of refreshing research; ideas that have potential to change the way we create and consume information.
The School would therefore like its scholars to invest their thoughts and energies in applied research. They will be guided in their pursuit by the School’s Faculty most of whom have been drawn from the industry. The scholars will also have the opportunity to interact with top editors and media professionals working in in India’s largest media conglomerate – The Times of India Group.
So, if you want to give a new direction to media research and be in the forefront of change then you are the one we are looking for.
