96 MonthsDoctor of Philosophy (Ph.D) in Physics is a doctorate program having areas of research in Theoretical Astrophysics, Observational Astronomy, Theoretical Condensed Matter Physics, Soft Matter Physics, Nonlinear Physics, Experimental High Energy Physics, and String Theory and Gravity
Eligibility Criteria
- Students with a minimum 55% marks in aggregate (overall percentage; not only in majoring subject) or CGPA 6.0 on a 10-point scale in a Master’s degree in any branch of Science: Physics/Astronomy & Astrophysics/Chemistry/Mathematics/Biology or M.E./M.Tech. or any equivalent degree.
- Candidates with BE/B.Tech degree with a minimum 60% marks in aggregate (overall percentage; not only in majoring subject) or a CGPA of 6.5 on a 10-point scale can also apply.
Admission Details
1. Students must have a qualification certificate in any of the either tests-
- Awarded CSIR-JRF or UGC-JRF or INSPIRE PhD (or)
- Qualified in JEST 2025/2026 (or)
- Qualified in GATE (or)
- Any other National Level Examination
2. Students will be selected to the Ph.D programme based on their performance in the interview, which will be conducted by the selection committee once eligible candidates are shortlisted.
Note: The interviews typically will be held in two sessions, one during the summer session (May - June), and another during winter (November - December).
