Indian Maritime University Chennai was established in 2008 through the Act of Parliament in November, 2008. Indian Maritime University is also known as IMU Chennai in short. IMU Chennai is a central university. Indian Maritime University was established to develop trained human resources for the maritime sector. This is a teaching cum affiliating university under the aegis of the Ministry of Shipping (MoS), Government of India (GoI). The University was set up with the objectives to promote maritime studies, training, research and extension with focus on emerging areas like oceanography, maritime laws, maritime security, search and rescue, transportation and environmental studies and more. Its establishment also promoted advanced knowledge through institutional and research facilities in the field of maritime. Indian Maritime University is categorised as a professional university. As it offers professional as well as non professional courses in naval and maritime studies. IMU Chennai Admission:
Indian Maritime University Chennai provides undergraduate (UG), postgraduate (PG) and doctoral programmes at its for different schools of learning in six different campuses. Indian Maritime University admission to UG courses is done on the basis of the IMU CET entrance exam marks and marks of class 12th excluding BBA course. For BBA IMU admission is done on the basis of class 12th marks only. Whereas Indian Maritime University admission to PG courses is done on the basis of graduation marks and Indian Maritime University CET for PG, but the admission to PGDME is done on the academic records only. If imu Chennai is the best college than why placements are more in tolani
TMI is better off in all the categories over IMU ( IMU refers to IMU Chennai campus). Placements is better at tolani at Meri on-campus placement is about 60–70% max..also you have most of the times just two attempts to sit for placements so things gets a bit tricky. Also since the best of the students from IMU-cet join Meri so competition is tough…. though if you are among the top 50 or 60 out of a batch of 250 your placement is almost 100% secured.

It will be based on your performance. IMU doesn't guarantee you with that but it will help you with having plenty of chances to get on board a ship. If you are going to do well in your semester examinations and other events, then I will make sure that you have a great opportunity to get into a good business.
I have some farsightedness problem in my eyesight .So my question is do I have to met the eyesight requirement at the time of admission or registration for the entrance exam onwards.
In case of candidates joining B. Tech. (MarineEngineering) degree course, glasses may be allowed buteye sightin each eye beyond plus/minus 2.5 will be rejected. Unaidedvisionshould be 6/12 in both eyes minimum or 6/9 in the good eye and 6/12 in the other eye minimum.
