Educational Qualification

For Diploma

Passed 12th or equivalent exam with PCM and 60% marks

OR

B.Sc in relevant discipline with not less than 55% marks

OR

B.E./ B. Tech from college recognised by AICTE with not less than 50% marks

For B.Sc and B.Tech

Passed 12th or equivalent exam in PCM with 60% marks and minimum of 50% marks in English in 10th or 12th from a recognised board

For BBA

Passed 12th or equivalent exam with 60% marks in any stream and minimum of 50% marks in English in 10th or 12th from a recognised board

M.Tech. (Marine Engineering & Management)

For M.Tech

Engineering Graduate in Mechanical/ Civil/ Marine /Naval Architecture or exam with 60% marks from a recognized University

For MBA and  M.Sc (Non-Seafarer)

Bachelor’s Degree in any discipline with 50% marks from recognized University and 50% marks in English in 10th or 12th or UG Degree 

For M.Sc (Seafarer)

50% of seats at IMU in M.Sc (Commercial Shipping & Logistics) being offered shall be reserved for seafarers with Master (FG) Certificate of Competency or MEO Class I Certificate of Competency

Postgraduate Diploma

Post Graduate Diploma in Marine Engineering (PGDME)

1 year

Graduation in B.E. Mechanical / Naval Architecture disciplines from recognized institutes with marks of 50% marks and 50% marks in English in 10th or 12th or Degree Exam

Doctoral Degree

Ph.D

For Ph.D

Passed 10th or 11th or 12th before joining undergraduate (UG) programme and UG before joining PG degree programme and Postgraduate in the respective areas of research with 55% marks or equivalent CGPA

OR

M.S (by Research) or M.Phil degree in the respective areas of research from IMU schools

OR

Mariners with Master or MEO Class I Certificate of Competency or PGDMOM qualification with 2 years of continuous teaching experience at degree level as faculty in IMU / IMU Affiliated Institutes/ DG(S) approved institutes

For M.S.

Undergraduate degree with 55% marks or CGPA, except in the case of Mariners for whom a Master or MEO Class I Certificate of Competency would suffice
