Kannada University, Hampi Facilities Details: Hostel, Campus, Infrastructure, Library, Canteen

Kannada University was established in 1992 to promote studies, research, and development in language, literature, culture, and all related aspects of Kannada and Karnataka. A library with a meaningful collection and effective library service is the fundamental requirement for the efficient academic functioning of the university. The achievements of a university can be gauged by the effectiveness of its library service. The library collection instead of being merely quantitatively rich must also be qualitatively rich responding to the academic needs of the university. Such an institution would automatically attract good faculty and students. Akshara Granthalaya is moving ahead in this direction. The library’s main emphasis is on the collection, preservation, and dissemination of Knowledge. It is a well-known fact that the library is the heart of the University. The excellence of the university can be gauged by merely evaluating the library and its Services. The library building is around 5463sq. meters area is being used to accommodate an office, Acquisition Section, Technical Section, Circulation Section, Periodicals Section, E-Resources Section, and Librarian’s room. At present, the library has a collection of 2,17,010 books, (including reference books 78,800), Rare books -1433, E-Books -169, Bound volumes – 2,371, Kannada Journals -06 and English Journals -22.

The University has sports facilities for all students.

The University has a departmental-based laboratories facility for the students.

The health center was constructed during 2013-14. Separate health checkups rooms are available for men and women. It comprises the necessary medical equipment. A Doctor and two caretakers are working here. There is a provision of emergency distribution of medicines.

The University has an excellent IT Infrastructure facility for the students.

Pampa Auditorium building was constructed during 2004-05 with the grants of legislative members. This Auditorium has set provision for 150 members. Seminars and meetings are organized and tables and chairs are arranged for the purpose of writing examination and mike system are also arranged.

Health and Gym Center building was constructed during 2013-14. Two separate rooms have been constructed in the gym center for the convenience of the boys and girls and also bathroom arrangement has been made

The canteen building was constructed in 2009-10 under UGC grants. The seating arrangement on both sides is facilitated for the university staff and the Students. Model canteen has been structured with facilitating pure drinking water. 100 members may take the privilege of the canteen facility at a single time, seating on both sides.

Separate hostels have been constructed for SC/ST and backward students in the university. Tees is a provision for 500 students in the hostel. The gym facility is available in the hostel. For facility is arranged to the hostels by the social welfare department of the Karnataka Government The building is constructed by the Kannada University and the facility is arranged by the social welfare department. The hostel is facilitated with a Solar Water heater, Solar power supply, and pure drinking water.

The separate hostel has been constructed for girls of SC/ST and backward classes in Kannada University. The gym facility is available in the hostel. For facility is arranged to the hostels by the Social Welfare department of Kannada University. The building is constructed by the University and for provision is arranged by the Social Welfare department. The hostel is facilitated with a Solar water heater, solar power system, and pure drinking water facility. There is a provision for 200 girls for accommodation in the hostel.

The University has Banks/ATM facilities for all students.

The University has a guest house/waiting room facilities for visiting faculty and student family members.
