60 MonthsDoctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) program in Biotechnology shall be for a minimum duration of three years, including course work, and a maximum of five years. Extension beyond the above limits will be governed by the relevant clauses as stipulated in the Statute/Ordinance of the individual Institution concerned offered by The Neotia University, Kolkata.
A Master’s degree in Biotechnology, Microbiology, Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, or relevant subjects with ≥ 55% marks or minimum ‘B’ grade for the unreserved category of students and ≥ 50% marks or equivalent grade for reserved category students.
Applications shall be invited through announcements by the University preferably twice a year at the time of semester begins. The interested applicant/s may apply for admission in the Ph.D. program in Biotechnology to the Registrar's Office of the University. The R&D committee shall get in touch with the Controller of Examination section to conduct the admission entrance test (written mode). In the entrance test, 50% of questions shall be set from the research methodology and the other 50% of questions shall be set from different topics of Biotechnology. The qualified candidates shall be called for a personal interview. Based on the performance of the candidate in the interview, the candidate may be considered for enrollment in the Ph.D. program in Biotechnology of the university.
