College infrastructure are quite good. Having air conditioned classrooms along with projector facility. Library is too big to explore. And in hostel also it is equipped with almost all modern facilities along with sports equipments
Studied here Master in statistics under guidance of some world class professor. Got to learn a lot of things from them. And while speaking about curriculum, it is of some different level. Some changes in curriculum must be needed for job seeking candidates
The quality of placement is quite high here. Institute have a record placement of 100% for last few years. And the average salary offered is also quite high in very renowned organization. Overall the placement procedure is quite smooth
ISI don't take any fees for its major courses. Rather they provide stipend every month to bear your own expenses
Indian Statistical Institute is the best place to study statistics and mathematics in India. It is well-maintained and provides suitable studying Conditions for Students, Research Scholars and Professors.
I'm in Bachelor of Statistical data science program at ISI Kolkata as this course offers modern-day skills like AI and ML. The course focuses on application of statistics in industry and hereby making students job ready.
The college has a strong placement records with many students getting placed in Financial, Statistical and Banking Sectors. Companies like Morgan Stanley , KPMG , Infosys , Wipro recruit people each year from here. The course with highest average package is M.tech(CS) with almost 20 LPA mean package.
Our course costs 205000 per year and. Apart from that there are living expenses in Metro City like Kolkata. Fee-waivers are provided by the college on basis of parental income of the student. The money is worth it because we get to learn from the best , to be honest the best in their fields across the country.
Campus life is pleasant if you are not a party-types guy. The college has a canteen , gymnasium , a big lawn and several ponds inside the main campus. It's easily reachable by any mode of transport from any part of Kolkata.
BSDS is a new course hence there are not much awareness regarding it but It's almost equivalent to MnC at IITs if hostel accommodation is not a problem for you.
The college infrastructure is as par with IITs and NITs in terms of research and development. The classrooms are very much modern and offer all the basic facilities like Wi-Fi accessibility, Digital boards etc.
I am currently a first year student in bachelor of Statistical data science. The quality of teaching is great as the professors are active researchers in their own fields. Our course is industry oriented in nature.
The placement opportunities in the college are great because the Indian statistical Institute holds almost a hundred percent record in placing the students finishing their Masters from the college. The highest package mostly comes from M.stat and MSQE people.
Everything is good but we don't get any hostel accommodation inside the campus. Hence the students of bsds stay in private accommodation outside the campus despite paying such a huge amount of fees of 2 lakhs per annum.
There are no social curricular activities that take place frequently inside the campus. Only one club is there named ISI club but that comprises mostly of the staff and no student involvement is there.
The institute offers all the educational and research oriented facilities for a premier research institute. The laboratory facilities are also quite decent and the academic area has WiFi facilities as well.
The faculties are good at teaching and highly qualified as well. I am studying a bachelor of Statistical data science at the college which will be the first graduating batch. The course mostly runs in online mode until there's some faculty available to take our courses along with their regular semester load as well.
We will be the first bachelor batch to be allowed to sit for placements by the institute. In the placement of masters people , Many big MnCs like Morgan Stanley , Jane Street, Nomura Bank, Resonance, Allen etc. come to hire for different roles . The highest domestic package can go as high up to 1 Crore per annum.
The course fee is high although it's a government funded institute. Despite the high fees and living cost in a metro city , there's no hostel accommodation for students of BSDS. The total course fee over 4 years is almost 8.2 lakhs.
Almost no non academic activities do happen here. Many times people try to initiate things but somehow such an atmosphere has not yet been developed. The institute is situated just beside a main road of the city.so no problem in reaching there.
Our college have all the necessary infrastructure for a research institute. The college offers courses at Bachelors, Masters and PhD level as well . All the laboratories also have the required hi-tech equipments.
I am one of the students of the 1st BSDS batch of ISI Kolkata. Our course is jointly taught from Kolkata , bangalore and Delhi. The quality of teaching is however as par offline standards. Online teaching does not mean any compromise in quality .
Placements here are fabulous as most of the students get placed in their dream companies including MAANG. Mostly quantitative/trading firms recruit from our campus . The highest package last year was something around 63 LPA and the median package was around 17-18 LPA. We will be sitting for placements after our bachelors with people of M.stat and MSQE.
The course fee is not something payable for a typical indian middleclass household. It's almost 2 lakhs a year and adding the living costs, all sums up to around 3 lakhs a year. As there is no hostel accommodation for our course. Return of investment can only be fetched through Placements.
Campus life is decent . Obviously one can't expect IIT level campus life Here as the college is small and quite old also. Very few co-curricular activities take place . The college is accessible from the city via all modes of transport, in fact it lies near the centre of the city.
The college infrastructure is very well maintained although the institute being very old like IISC Bangalore. The classrooms are as par with 21st century modern day classrooms. The laboratories also do offer great technical facilities like in most of the premier research institutes.
I am studying Bachelor of Statistical data science here which will be the first batch to get graduated in this course . Our course have some professors from ISI Delhi , some from ISI Bangalore and some from ISI Kolkata itself. Our course was actually introduced to meet the modern day industry needs.
Placement percentage is almost 100% here because of small batch sizes and talented individuals too. Recruiters like Optiver,JP Morgan,Barclays ,Narayana Classes , Aditya Birla , FAANG companies frequently take people from here.
The course fees is too high 2.05 lakhs per year that too without hostels and mess. People of bsds need to reside outside of the hostel premises and only come to the college for classes. The investment is worth it as there is high chances of getting placed or end up getting a good stipend for Foreign PhD.
There is no campus life at all. The institute have no places where people can quietly sit or hang out with their friends. Co-curricular activities are also not that frequent. The locations is decently accessible via metro and bus But railway station and airport are a bit far i.e. 15 km from the campus.
The college infrastructure is required standing because of the college being 95 years old almost. All the classrooms have multiple boards , projectors and Wi-Fi accessibility. The laboratories are also modern and well equipped.
I am studying Bachelor of statistical data science which is the first batch in the respective course.the course is running in hybrid mode from ISI Kolkata, Delhi and Bangalore. The curriculum is made keeping in mind the needs of 21st century and the industry needs.
The placement scenario at ISI is amazing. As it is the first batch so no previous year records are there but our batch people will be sitting with masters people for placements.last year highest package for masters was 63 LPA and the mean was around 17-20 LPA as the institute only used to allow asters people for placements till now .
The course fee is 1 lakh per semester but the thing is that students get no hostel accommodation and not all offline teachers. Staying in Private accommodation and learning through online mode , students face many difficulties.Although Once you graduate then you can see a very high return of investment if you get placed with a good package.
Campus co-curricular activities are almost nil. There are almost no student bodies for different activities like debate, dance , drama etc. The only club isi has is isi club which comprises mostly of workers and staffs and not students.
The college infrastructure is quite nice as the institute is more than 90 years old and well maintained. All the classrooms including ours contains projector screens white boards digital boards as well as Wi-Fi accessibility.
I am studying Bachelor of statistics honours because the course is quite theoretically good to pursue. The quality of teaching is pretty nice as all the professors and mostly pass-outs of reputed research Institutes. Our course at masters level makes Students job ready not at bachelors level.
The track record of ISI in placements is unmatchable although the institute does not allow bachelor students to sit for placements except Bachelor of statistical data science. But at masters level the placements are very nice. The mean package is quite high ,sometimes around 20 LPA. Last year highest package was 63 LPA from SQC department.
We get stipend for securing more than 60% in a semester and maintaining more than 75% attendance. We don't pay anything to the institute for our studies rather we get stipend. Also at the end of the semester if someone secured top positions then the institute offers prize money of 2000 as well. Hence the education is worth it.
Campus life is very poor and below average. Limited sports facilities are available. Even the institute does not have separate grounds for Major sports like cricket and football. Students use the same ground for both. The annual fest is called integration but in 2025 it's not being organised.
The college infrastructure is great considering it's around 100 year old Institute. The basic modern day facilities like Wi-Fi ,CCTV, library available in the academic area of the college. The classrooms are well equipped with projectors and whiteboards and can be termed as smart classrooms.
I am currently studying Bachelor of statistical data science which is a new undergraduate courses at ISIK. This course is made keeping in mind the industrial needs of the corporate sector nowadays. Show the curriculum makes the students job ready obviously.
As our batch is the first batch of the course there is no past record of placements. But keeping in mind the placement statistics of masters people at ISI Kolkata we can certainly have a positive aspiration to get placed. According to the college officials BSDS people will be sitting for placements with master people for whom last year highest package was 63 LPA in domestic .
The course fees is around 1 lakh per semester which is a bit high for many Indian family but the thing is that after paying such you don't get hostel accommodation and offline teachers in all subjects as the course runs in hybrid mode only.
The campus life is very standard. The gender ratio is too bad. Involvement of students in curricular activities is rare here . Most of the students find themselves in studying mode only. Inside the campus there are no such good places for hanging out with friends. The college fest which used to be conducted each year was called INTEGRATION which has stopped from this year only .
BSDS people face a bit of discriminations .
The college infrastructure is quite good in terms of availability of modern day facilities. All the classrooms are well equipped with Wi-Fi , cctv cameras and projectors. The hostel match food is hygienic and the gardens of campus are ell maintained.
Most of the professors the pass-outs of the institute itself who later involved themselves in teaching. All of them are top researchers and mathematicians/statisticians of the country . The bachelor of statistics curriculum is very much theoretical and also includes all the recent developments. The course makes all the students job-ready but most of them take jobs after masters only.
The placement of Indian statistical Institute is unparallel. According to the past year statistics the highest package was of 89 lakhs per annum the median salary stood somewhere between 30 to 40 lakhs per annum while the average package was more than at least 20 lakhs per annum. All the big multinational companies like Google, Microsoft, Amazon, Flipkart ,optiver ,JP Morgan & Jane Street etc. recruit each year from the campus.
The course requires no fees instead the institute provides stipend to every student who have at least 60% in the semester with no compulsory backlogs. The money is absolutely worth it if you study hard.
Campus life is not that happening. The gender ratio is very bad. The student involvement in co-curricular activities is very less. The annual fest name is integration but it is not happening this year. The colleges quiet accessible from all parts of the city with all modes of transport from metro station to airport.
Bachelor of statistics curriculum is very difficult. come only if you love the subject
Hey Shruti ,
As per your mentioned query , you cannot take admission in ISI Kolkata in BSDS through Institute Admission Test (IAT). To get admission for BSDS in ISI Kolkata you have to give entrance exams like CUET UG and NEET .
Whereas , IAT exam is conducted by ISI Kolkata for admission in postgraduate courses and Bsc Hons .
I hope this helps you!
Revert for further query!
To crack the ISI entrance exam, focus on strong foundation in core mathematical concepts. "Test of Mathematics at the 10+2 Level" by Indian Statistical Institute is a good starting point. Additionally, books like "Higher Algebra" by Hall & Knight and "Calculus: Early Transcendentals" by James Stewart are essential for MStat preparation. For a comprehensive understanding of calculus, consider "Problems in Calculus of One Variable" by I.A. Maron.

Securing admission to the ISI BSDS course with a 60% percentile in JEE Mains as an OBC NCL female candidate might be challenging. The ISI typically has a competitive cutoff, and a higher percentile may improve your chances. It's recommended to aim for a stronger score.
