The institute offers admission at the undergraduate, postgraduate and doctoral levels. IISER Kolkata admissions are offered to courses such as BS and MS dual degrees, MS Space Physics, Integrated Ph.D. and Ph.D. programmes. Students willing to take admission in BS-MS dual degree programmes must visit the www.iiseradmissions.ac.in. to check the eligibility criteria and channels through which IISER Kolkata admissions are offered. The Joint Admissions Committee (JAC) is responsible for managing the IISER Kolkata UG admission process- BS and MS dual degree. It is to be noted that there are only three channels of admissions via which students can get admission in BS-MS dual degree programmes at IISER Kolkata: Kishore Vaigyanik Protsahan Yojana Basic Science Stream, JEE Advanced and State and Central Board (SCB). Students applying through the KVPY channel must have a valid KVPY fellowship, candidates applying through JEE Advanced (unreserved category) must secure a rank in Common Rank List (CRL) within 10,000. Students who have passed class 12th in the science stream can apply through the SCB channel and must appear for IISER Aptitude Test. It must be noted that students applying through KVPY and JEE Advanced are offered direct admissions whereas, for the SCB channel candidates have to appear for IISER Aptitude Test.
For MS Space Physics admissions, candidates must qualify for GATE or any other national eligibility test such as JEST. IISER Kolkata admissions to MS Space Physics are offered based on the performance of students in the interview, the academic background of candidates, or any other admission criteria determined by the selection committee. Candidates wanting to take admission in Integrated Ph.D. at IISER Kolkata must meet the general eligibility criteria and obtain a valid rank in nationwide aptitude tests such as JAM, JEST, JGEEBILLS etc. Shortlisted candidates will be notified for the interview and there is an online written screening test for the Department of Biological Sciences. For Ph.D. admissions, candidates must have CSIR UGC NET/ DBT-JRF/ICMR-JRF/DST-INSPIRE or equivalent independent fellowship. There is a written screening test and online interview for shortlisted candidates and the final selection will be based on the candidates’ performance in the interview.

IISER Kolkata application process comprises of two steps: registration and application.

Fill the application form and pay the application fee.
Candidates must have passed class 12th with 60% marks (general category) in the science stream and 55% marks for SC/ST category from a recognised board.

There are only three ways via which students can get admission at IISER Kolkata: KVPY, JEE Advanced and SCB.
Students who have appeared for KVPY or JEE Advanced are offered direct admissions by meeting the admission criteria.
Students who have not appeared for KVPY or JEE Advanced can apply for admission by appearing for IISER Aptitude Test.
The authorities release different cutoffs for different channels: KVPY, JEE Advanced and SCB.
Students must appear for IISER counselling. There will be separate counselling sessions for different channels.

IISER campuses are allotted to students based on their preferences, seat availability, and category of students.
After the seat allotment process, students must visit specific centres for document verification.
B.E/B.Tech from a recognised university + qualified GATE/JEST

Fill the application form and pay the admission fee.
The screening committee will evaluate the applicants and some candidates will be shortlisted for the interview round.
Recommendation letters may be sought for shortlisted candidates.

The final selection of candidates will be done based on the students’ performance in interview, academic background, or any other criteria determined by the screening committee.
Secure a minimum of 60% in B.Sc./B.E./B.Tech./M.B.B.S. marks/equivalent grades in any branch of Biological Sciences/ Biotechnology/ Medical Sciences(if applicable) and chemistry at UG level, mathematics in class 12th or a course in mathematics AND/OR statistics at the undergraduate level. + JAM (Biotechnology)/JGEEBILLS
Secure a minimum of 60% B.Sc./B.E./B.Tech. marks/equivalent grades in chemistry and physics and chemistry at the undergraduate level from a recognised university. + JAM (Chemistry)
Secure a minimum of 60% B.Sc./B.E./B.Tech. marks/equivalent grades in physics (Hons subject) and chemistry at the undergraduate level from a recognised university + JEST
Students desirous of taking admission in Integrated Ph.D. must fill the application form with all the required documents and pay the application fee.
Eligible students must obtain a valid rank in nationwide aptitude test such as JAM, JEST, JGEEBILLS etc.
There is an online written screening test for the Department of Biological Sciences.
Shortlisted candidates must attend the interview.
The institute shall display the list of selected candidates on the official website.
Admissions are offered based on the performance of students in the interview.
M.Sc/MS/ME/M.Tech/MVSc/MSc(Ag) degree or equivalent with a minimum of 55% marks in any branch of biological sciences + Qualified a National Eligibility exam that provides a 5-year PhD fellowship such as CSIR-JRF / UGC-JRF / DBT-JRF-A / ICMR-JRF / DBT-BINC-JRF / Rajiv Gandhi National Fellowship. INSPIRE Ph.D. Fellowship
M.Sc. examination with minimum 55% marks in any field of Chemistry or Physics + CSIR/UGC-NET JRF, INSPIRE fellowship or other equivalent fellowships.

Candidates must have NET-JRF/UGC-JRF/ DBT-JRF/ICMR-JRF/DST-INSPIRE or equivalent independent fellowship according to students research interests.
Eligible students need to appear for written test and interview conducted by the institute.
Shortlisted candidates need to appear for interview.
The final selection will be made based on the students’ performance in an interview (additional criteria may be applicable).
