The campus is quite spacious and has greenary all around. It has a small waterfall demo inspired by american and egyptian waterfalls. The campus is well equipped, it has all necessary computer lab with desktops , labs with laptops, seminar halls, training halls and spacious and well ventilated classrooms which have a capacity of around 80 people. The seminar halls too have a capacity of 300-350 people. Each building is dedicated to an engineering department ex.CSE,EEE,ECE,AI&ML etc.Its a women's college so sanitary needs and hygiene are kept at priority and washrooms are designed. Hygienic practices are maintained all around the college. the college has a sports arena , a sports complex which is for the audience, a kalavedika for cultural events , a 4 storey library building accessible to all. The college also has labs dedicated for electronics,chemistry and physics, department with necessary equipments. A whole building dedicated for the admission staff,placement team and a psycologist for students,an entrepreneurship cell for student innovation, vedic for student and peer support. The college food is regarded as safe and healthy and rated 4.4/5 by students, college has two mess which are hygienic and a chat center,dosa center,juice center which are reguarly checked under college's supervision.

I am studying B.Tech in CSE in this college currently and i must say its a good college overall. The crowd here is 90% telugu , which makes it slightly difficult for anyone over north to join a little difficult since everyone (students majority) prefers telugu over hindi. The quality of teaching is good , use of podium,mic , board,projector is done effeciently. They make us job ready with every aspect including technical stack,soft skills and aptitude right from our first year. The programs offered here are quite efficient and easy to manage , good for industrial purposes.

The highest offer as of now of the college is 53.35 Lpa , and last year it was 54 Lpa , however depending on students own hardwork and ability the placement amout reduces or increases. the college and the placemant team tries its best to get every student placed. I can't say that the college have all the necessary facilities and equipments. We have a black board with benches; in laboratory essential equipments are there by which we perform specified practicals. The places are weekly cleaned but not in stable clean conditions are there. Also girls washrooms are very unhygienic. College infrastructure is not as good as it should be, however one can survive 3 years of their life in this college. Also I don't live in college hostel so I can't give feedback on that but it can be better.

I'm studying in Civil Engineering, Diploma, 2nd year because I want to pursue B.arch in future. The techers here are amazing they teach very well and give their attention to their way of teaching also. I think that the curriculum should expand bit more to gain more knowledge of the things to be ready for jobs and business in future. Best features of campus is its greenery. Worst is there we can see garbage like packets lying on ground which is sad. Apart from it the college can handle emergencies cause every department is well apart so that the vehicles can move freely around the campus. College have many events of their own department as well as main big events. There is sports activities, national day celebration activities and many more. Students are friendly only if you know them well. Techers are good. I also think the college is safe because guards are always at the front (main) door and back doors to ensure safety.

Honestly, the infrastructure is exactly what you'd expect from an old, established North Kolkata college. We have the basic labs and equipment needed for Physics, but don't expect anything super high-tech—it's more about traditional learning. As for living spaces, there isn't a massive hostel on-site, but the general campus area is kept fairly clean. The canteen food is typical college fare—affordable and okay for a quick snack, but nothing fancy. It’s a functional campus, just not a 'luxury' one.

"I chose B.Sc Physics Hons because I’ve always been fascinated by how things work at a fundamental level, and Jogamaya is known for its strong science faculty. The quality of teaching is actually quite high; the professors aren't just reading from slides, they really dive into the derivations. As for the curriculum, it’s the standard CU syllabus which is very theoretical. While it’s updated with modern physics, I wouldn't say it makes you 100% 'job-ready' for a corporate role immediately. It's more geared towards preparing you for higher studies like an M.Sc or research. You have to do a lot of self-study to connect what you learn in the lab to real-world industry applications, but the academic foundation you get here is very solid.

Placement is one area where the college could definitely improve, especially for pure science streams like Physics. In our 2022 batch, hardly anyone got a direct job offer through the college; most of us were focused on preparing for JAM or other entrance exams for our Masters anyway. The college is supportive with seminars and skill training, but you really have to be proactive on your own if you want a job straight after graduation.

The best feature of the campus has to be its location in Hazra; it’s super well-connected and feels very safe for female students, even if you're staying late for labs or events. The worst feature is probably the lack of a large open field, so there’s not much space for big sports, but students still engage in plenty of cultural programs and college fests. The student crowd is very diverse and friendly, and the support staff are generally helpful with administrative work. As for emergencies, there are hospitals nearby, and the college environment is disciplined enough to handle basic issues. It really feels like a close-knit community where the teachers and students actually know each other by name.

Looking back at my 2019-2022 journey, I feel Jogamaya Devi College is perfect for students who prioritize academics over fancy campus life. The Physics department is its biggest strength—the teachers are deeply invested in student progress, especially during the difficult shift to online learning we faced. If you want a respected CU degree without a huge financial burden, this is definitely the place to be. I highly recommend it for serious science students.
