The Dayalbagh Educational Institute (DEI) is part of one of the region’s oldest educational institutions, having been formed back in 1917. It is located in the historical city of Agra, home to the Taj Mahal. In the year 1981, the DEI was granted deemed university status by the UGC (University Grants Commission). It has also been accredited by the NAAC (National Assessments and Accreditation Council) with an A grade rating. Women’s education has been a key objective for the DEI right from the earliest of days.
The entire academics at the DEI, is overseen by a cohort of faculty areas. The six faculty areas here are for- Arts, Social Sciences, Education, Engineering, Science and Commerce. In addition, it has a Technical College. Several programmes’ training is imparted here, at UG as well as PG levels. These programmes are available across the streams of arts, commerce and the sciences. Some certificate programmes may also be undertaken here.

Distance education is an important area of focus here. The DEI has a well- endowed DEP (Distance Education Programme). It has UG as well as PG programmes in it. A separate portal has been launched for its delivery. It is known as the e-DEI-de. There is a separate facility on campus called Vidya Prasar, to broadcast all the study content across the media. Live webcasts and e- books are also facilitated for this. All of this and much more has contributed to the impressive ranks earned by the DEI across platforms. The IIT Bombay and the Amrita Vishwa University in Tamil Nadu are the knowledge partners for this content creation. It has been placed as 90th overall and 63rd best among colleges, by the NIRF (National Institutional Rankings Framework).
