Honest review about my college.
College Infrastructure
The college infrastructure of the college is pretty good. Boys and girls have separate hostels within the campus. It has digital classrooms and sufficient labs. Every block consists of Wi-Fi, and a library is also there, but it will not be open sometimes. Overall, the infrastructure is good.
Academics
The teachers are good and explain everything in detail so that every student can understand. This course curriculum is good, but they do not prepare you for the industry; you have to learn separate courses. The end-of-semester exams are not hard, but you can easily write them.
Placements
The college offers campus placements. The number of students that got placements is a minimum of 60-70%. The placement cell has gotten better than before, so you can be assured of a job if you study hard. All companies will drive to campus, and internships are also assured.

College Infrastructure
The infrastructure of the college is not so bad. In fact, our college is located between mountains and a lake, which is pretty scenic to watch. We also have a digital library and 24-hour Wi-Fi available all through the campus, and we do often have fests happening in college events.
Academics
The pass percentage lies between 40 to 50. Yes, the courses offered are pretty good, and the faculty are also professional, and they mainly train you in the core subjects so that we can get into the work side of our course and achieve something. Exams are conducted in other college centers.
Placements
70% of the students were placed in the last year 2024, and many more are coming this year. The highest package is 24 LPA, and the lowest is 4 LPA. Top recruiting companies are Microsoft, Genpact, and Infosys. Almost every student gets an internship, and there are very good opportunities.
Getting into the ambience of Shantiniketan.

The University of Visva Bharati has a proper and complete traditional ambience. The University campus is very calm and best for educational events. The students are able to explore the campus and take admission in any part of the campus.
Academics
Here, the education is fully nature and modern blended. The professors are inspired by Tagore's Thoughts and regulations. The University campus follows the 'No backbenchers' rule from 1921. The academics are very helpful to understand.
Placements
As the Shantiniketan is situated in a rural area so the placement are little bit affected by it's location. But the University placement cell offers various type of small scale to high scale jobs in several fields.

College Infrastructure
We have very poor infrastructure. Labs don't have proper working computers and they don't have internet connection also. Classrooms are not up to the mark. We don't have ACs in our labs and students don't come to the college regularly. Students don't have seriousness about their future..
Academics
Faculty is very poor and therefore, not so good. They are not qualified and they don't have much knowledge about their subjects. We don't have regular classes and even teachers hesitate to teach classes. Semester exams are conducted in our respective centers. Pass percentage is very low.
Placements
Maximum students will be placed in our college. The highest package offered is 7 LPA, the lowest package is 2 - 3.5 LPA and the average package is 5 LPA. Mostly TCS will recruit in our college. Less students got internships in our college.

The Bhavanas are very equipped and well maintained. There are many buildings such as Padma Bhavan, Bhasha Bhavana, Vidya Bhavana, and others. The library is very large with great collections of Books.

The Visva Bharati University provide the educational benefits to every students. The students can easily use the library books whenever they want. The campus ambience is fully educational and cultural. The academics are inspired by Tagore.

The University placement cell offers various type of jobs in several fields . The small and large companies offer various types of jobs to the mertious students. The students can go and choose their own preference for the job from outside also.

The infrastructure needs some improvement. The printmaking press is old and needs an upgrade. The grinding section gets very hot—fans or AC should be added. Studios are okay but need better maintenance.

Academics are average. The syllabus could be updated with new teaching methods and digital tools. Practical learning is fine, but the overall model of study feels outdated and slow.Faculty should try some experiments in teaching for better understanding.

Placements are limited for fine arts students. Few internship chances are provided, mostly self-found. The college can support better career guidance and links with creative industries.There is need for better communication channel for all over growth in placements.
Overall the university is good for studying.

The roads are very neat and clean. The class rooms have sufficient fan and AC for all the students. They have big classrooms and large corridors with CCTV surveillance. The food in the canteen is also good and pocket friendly for the students.

The professors are excellent with their teaching skills and also focuses on practicals. The university is comprised with large central library which is enough for all the students of the departments. The lecturers are also very friendly with the students.

Visva bharati placements vary by the programmes. The university’s placement cell oraganizes placement for the final year students. Some departments have limited campus recruitment and students often pursue higher education with the internship that are provided.

Vivekanand is a great Campus and and have a Great infrastructure. The classrooms are spacious and equipped with smart boards and projectors that make learning more engaging. Average placement is 6.5 lpa. Mostly companies come for the sales job as well as analytics roles. Intership opportunities are great. Get decent return on investment. Placement cell give full support and arrange workshops for better placements.

Campus is amazing and enjoyable. There are many cells, events, and festivals that keep students active and connected. The environment is friendly and safe, making it easy to interact and make new friends. Students get many chances to show their talents in cultural, sports, and academic activities

Had very cool campus life. Infrastructure has all facilites like wifi, lifts, good ventillation, all kinds of classroom as in step rooms, separate class for presentations, normal classroom with greenery outside as our campus was located near hills.
Academics
We had real industry explosure and syllabus was not only limited to particular textbook. Faculty was good and supportive. Curriculum was decided by our own campus as it is autonomous university. Had industry visit every year and got to learn lot of things from there.
Placements
Has a issues regarding placements. If any individual is looking for placement specifically then you have to take extra efforts from your end and dont depend on college at all. Mostly sales related jobs are offered.

The building holds an impressive, classic presence in the middle of the city. The library is a quiet sanctuary with an extensive collection, perfect for English Honours students. I wish the campus felt slightly less shared with the school section. The canteen food is decent enough for a quick bite, but nothing exceptional to write about. Overall, the maintenance and cleanliness are generally very good.

The professors make every effort to relate the Calcutta University syllabus to real-world contexts and ideas. We receive ample quality study materials and notes for all the complex papers. My passion for literature has definitely grown in this environment.

For Bachelor of Arts students, the focus is definitely tilted towards career guidance and higher studies preparation rather than immediate corporate placements.Direct job opportunities specific to pure English literature are limited on campus, which is an expected reality in the liberal arts field. We receive good support for preparing for competitive exams and postgraduate applications.

The primary drawback is that the campus area is quite compact and space is limited. We have many active societies and clubs, like the literary society, which are engaging. The administrative rules can sometimes feel a little too strict and restrictive for my liking. It is a good, secure environment but is not that much socially engaging.

The location on Lord Sinha Road is excellent for commuting ease, a major plus point. Inside, the air conditioning is consistently reliable across all the floors, which is very essential. My biggest issue is that the campus feels vertically constrained, like a very tall school. Sometimes getting a lift during the morning rush hours is a completely chaotic experience. The student washroom cleanliness is often inconsistent, especially during the afternoon classes.

The Department of Commerce is staffed with dedicated professors who have true passion for the subjects. Our Accounting and Finance syllabus preparation is intensely focused on professional course alignment.They use a blend of lecture and discussion, making sure every core topic is properly understood.
Placements
The placement cell actively works to attract recruiters, hosting many corporate pre-placement talks. For freshers, most of the bulk hiring is typically from the business processing sectors. The roles offered by the large consulting firms are generally entry level, focusing on backend operations. I have noticed that high salary packages are quite rare for those pursuing only a Bachelor of Commerce degree.

The college atmosphere feels very much like an extension of a strict high school environment. There is excessive emphasis on attendance and maintaining decorum, severely limiting student freedom. The administration keeps campus hours extremely rigid, rushing us between classes and home. Grand, spontaneous cultural fests or large common gatherings are essentially non-existent here.

The grand, old building is definitely photogenic, but its age genuinely causes operational issues daily. There is a desperate need to modernize the classrooms with proper, working technology instead of relying on outdated tools. The library is my only quiet escape and is thankfully managed quite well for focused study sessions. It is frustrating that serious athletes have virtually zero dedicated sports facilities on campus whatsoever. Frankly, the cramped common areas and small washrooms are definitely the least pleasant parts of the daily experience.

This Bachelor of Commerce course is intensely focused, meaning the workload constantly demands my complete attention from the beginning. The most reassuring part is that the professors are true experts who teach concepts, not just book chapters. They stress on the importance of conceptual clarity, which I know is vital for facing the future professional exams. The speed at which they rush through the syllabus is genuinely stressful and requires serious effort outside of class time. The rule about mandatory attendance here is completely unforgiving as missing even one class feels like a major risk.
Placements
The starting salary packages seem very average and reasonable for fresh commerce graduates in our city. However, students dreaming of a top-tier core investment banking job will definitely need to look outside the college system entirely.

The student body is surprisingly vibrant, very diverse, and truly welcoming. We have various large cultural, social, and important commerce-related fests that keep the entire calendar year exciting and engaging. I truly believe that actively joining societies is the only way to quickly develop essential leadership and communication skills.

The College Infrastructure is a solid four star campus, which is charming, always clean, and functional, with good computer laboratories and a library. The catch is that it is tiny and we have to sacrifice big sports fields for that prime location, which is the only real drawback according to me.

Placement is a decent three-star setup for me. It is like a great, reliable safety net, which is what most people are looking for.The big names,the auditing giants, show up every year, and most people who try hard land a solid job with a respectable paycheck. It is reliable for a standard accounting career, which is what most of us are here anyway.

Campus life gets four stars from me for pure, concentrated energy. Since we are all squeezed into a smaller space in the city, the energy level is just constantly high. Events and clubs are always happening, and everyone knows everyone else, which is really cool. We are right in the middle of everything, so the actual campus extends to the whole neighbourhood with all the coffee shops and eateries right outside the gates. It is a tight-knit community feeling.

There is a noticeable inconsistency between the recently renovated spaces and the neglected common areas. Overall, the infrastructure is perfectly functional, but it definitely needs substantial technology upgrades outside of the dedicated media wing to achieve better consistency.

However, this classical approach regrettably leaves very little room for rapid, hands-on skill acquisition and industry practice. I often find myself needing to learn specific industry skills independently because the class pace is either too slow or too dense.

While the college boasts a powerful alumni network, accessing it directly for media opportunities has proven to be extremely difficult for me. The energy and resources of the placement cell are clearly, and perhaps understandably, directed toward the commerce stream. Though we receive excellent career guidance talks, but I feel these rarely translate into tangible job interview calls from relevant media houses.
