Lucknow University: Admission, Courses, Fees, Placements

University of Lucknow (UL) was established in the year 1920. UL campus size is more than 220 acres. Lucknow University consists of 16 institutes. There are more than 20 thousand students enrollment in UL and the total faculty is around 340. Lucknow University is a state university and has been approved by the University Grants Commission (UGC). Arts, Unani, Ayurveda, Engineering and Technology, Commerce, Education, Fine Arts, Law and Science are the faculties of Lucknow University. There are a total of 50 departments at UL. 

Lucknow University offers admissions to more than 180 courses. UL offers programmes in three levels - diploma, UG and PG. Lucknow University admissions happen on the basis of entrance examinations or merit in the qualifying examination. A common entrance exam is conducted by the University of Lucknow for admission into most of the courses but for admissions into some specific courses, candidates have to appear for other entrance exams.

UL committees are present to provide a safe and secure learning environment to the students. There are various clubs in UL. Lucknow University clubs help the students explore and showcase their talents. Some of the Lucknow University clubs include - 

• Literary Club - UL literary club does activities like essay writing, poetry, memoir, travel writing, etc.

• Debate Club - Debates, extempore, group discussions, business games, etc are the activities which the Lucknow University debate club conducts.

• Performing Art Club - Solo/group/duet singing, folk/classical/solo dance are some of the activities of this club.

• Visual Art Club - This Lucknow University club is involved in activities like painting, collage, poster, clay modelling, rangoli, etc.

Lucknow University Facilities

Lucknow University facilities are provided so that the students do not face any issues while they are in the university. Many facilities are provided by UL to the students. University of Lucknow facilities include outdoor and indoor sports facilities and also a gymnasium for the physical and mental well-being of the students. Lucknow University library is known as Tagore library and it has a huge amount of resources for the students. This includes more than 5 lakh books and 20 thousand journals. Lucknow University facilities also include medical facilities like a dispensary that provides free checkups and medicines. UL has 5 canteens in the old campus and 3 on the new. There are 17 hostels in UL, 7 for girls and 10 for boys. Child care facilities, yoga center, computer center, guest house are also part of Lucknow University facilities.

Lucknow University Admissions

University of Lucknow admissions happen via government entrance examinations or the entrance examination conducted by UL. University of Lucknow admissions for B.Tech are done on the basis of the JEE Main entrance examination. Lucknow University MBA admissions happen either through CAT or LUMET. Candidates should also be aware of the order of merit criteria of Lucknow University admissions. If two candidates secure equal marks in the qualifying examination then marks of class 12th are taken into account. If class 12th marks are also the same then the older candidate is given priority.

Lucknow University Scholarships

Lucknow University scholarships include - Chhatra Kalyan Scholarship and Karmyogi Scheme. The Dean of Student Welfare is the chairperson of the committee which decides the selection of the applicants for the financial aid under these scholarships. Rs. 15000 is given to the eligible students under the Chhatra Kalyan Scholarship or the actual annual/semester fees. The students are encouraged to take part-time jobs on the campus and they are paid Rs. 150/hour. The maximum a student can earn as per the Karmyogi Scheme is Rs. 15000. Interested students need to submit an online application in the prescribed format to the DSW Office to apply for UL scholarships. 

Lucknow University Placements

Central Placement Cell (CPC) oversees Lucknow University placements. University of Lucknow placement cell provides placement assistance and counselling to the students. Workshops and seminars are conducted during Lucknow University placement cell. This helps in increasing the employability of students. Employability skill tests are also conducted by the placement cell of the university. Companies like Aditya Birla Group, CCD, IDBI Federal, etc have recruited students from the University of Lucknow.
