Unani Medicine is a traditional healing system with origins in ancient Greece and later developed by Arab and Persian scholars. Today, it is widely practised in India and supported by the Ministry of AYUSH. Unani focuses on natural healing and offers alternative treatment options alongside modern and Ayurvedic medicine.
Unani treatment is based on the balance of the four bodily humours. Diagnosis is done by observing symptoms, pulse, and temperament, and treatment includes herbal remedies, dietary regulation, and regimental therapies. Like Ayurveda, it aims to treat the root cause of illness, making it a holistic and preventive system of medicine.
Students can pursue the BUMS course after completing 10+2 with Physics, Chemistry, and Biology. After graduation, they can opt for postgraduate courses in Unani Medicine.
