Bharathiar University offers admission to postgraduate and research programmes. Admission to postgraduate courses is done through TANCET examination pr examination conducted by the University. Further, the shortlisted candidates have to appear for a counselling process. While admission to research courses is done on the basis of CET examination followed by an interview conducted by the University. The detailed admission process to all courses is given below:

For Postgraduate Courses (MBA/MCA/M.Sc/PG Diploma):

• For MBA, candidates have to qualify the Tamil Nadu Common Entrance Test (TANCET).
• Candidates have to register for a centralised counselling process conducted by the Government College of Technology, Coimbatore and choose BU as their preference.
• Admission will be done on the basis of marks scored in TANCET examination, performance in counselling, seat allotment and document verification.
• For MCA, candidates have to qualify the Tamil Nadu Common Entrance Test (TANCET).
• Candidates have to register for a centralised counselling process conducted by the Government College of Technology, Coimbatore and choose BU as their preference.
• Candidates who have not appeared for TANCET will have to appear for Bharathiar University MCA Entrance Test (BUMCAET).
• Admission will be done on the basis of marks scored in TANCET/BUMCAET examination, performance in counselling, seat allotment and document verification.
• For M.Sc, PG Diploma, candidates have to qualify a master's examination in a relevant domain from a recognised institute/university.
• Candidates have to fill an online application form on the website of BU.
• Eligible candidates have to appear for an entrance exam conducted by the University. 
• Final admission will be done on the basis of entrance exam/qualifying examination, seat allotment, document verification and fee payment.

For Research Courses (M.Phil/Ph.D):

• Candidates should have a master's degree from a recognised institute/university.
• Candidates have to apply on the website of Bharathiar University, Coimbatore. 
• Eligible candidates have to appear for the Common Eligibility Test (CET) followed by an interview conducted by the University.
• Candidates who have qualified UGC-NET (including JRF)/UGC-CSIR NET (including JRF)/SLET/SET/GATE, scientists working in DRDO/Faculty of Air Force Administrative College, holders of teacher fellowship will be exempted from the CET examination.
• Shortlisted candidates will be offered admission on the basis of merit in CET examination, performance in an interview, seat allotment, document verification and fee payment.
