72 MonthsDoctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) is offered Full-time three/six-year Doctoral program and it is offered by the Birla Institute of Technology and Science, Pilani. Ph.D. programme shall be for a minimum duration of three years, including course work and a maximum of six years. Extension beyond the above limits will be governed by the relevant clauses as stipulated in the Statute/Ordinance of the individual Institution concerned.
Eligibility Criteria
M.E./M.Tech./M.Pharm./MBA/M.Phil. or an equivalent degree with a minimum of 60% aggregate in the qualifying examination
M.Sc./B.E./B.Pharm. or an equivalent degree with a minimum of 60% aggregate in the qualifying examination
For admissions to Humanities and Social Sciences, candidates with an M.A. degree and a minimum of 55% aggregate may apply.
Meeting the minimum eligibility criteria does not guarantee admission into the PhD programme. In addition, Departments may set specific admission criteria for shortlisting. Candidates admitted with qualifications like M.Sc., B.E., B.Pharm. etc., will be required to do course work on admission to the programme.
Admission Details
Shortlisted candidates will have to appear for an admission test, which may comprise of a written exam and/or interview. Only shortlisted candidates will be called to attend the admission test.
Candidates will be shortlisted based on an order of preference (starting with the first) provided by them in the application form. An application not shortlisted based on the first preference of a candidate would then be considered for admission based on his / her second preference and so on (only if subsequent preferences are indicated in the application form). It may be noted that the final decision on admitting candidates to the PhD programme will be taken by the Admission Committee and will be binding to all.
