The university was established in the year 2016. Brainware University is a private state university established by the Government of West Bengal. The university is recognised by the University Grants Commission (UGC). Brainware University Kolkata, a part of a 30-year-old leading education group, Brainware of West Bengal, started with the aim of contributing to nation-building through research, innovation and quality education. Entrepreneurship Club - The Entrepreneurship Club aims to inspire and guide young people to become great entrepreneurs. To do this, famous entrepreneurs who are leaders in their professions are invited to participate in seminars and workshops.

Photography Club (Photo Frame) - The Photography Club at Brainware University organises contests where members submit their photographs, and the best photograph is awarded.

Cine Club (Deep Focus)- Cine club collaborates on a multimedia programme with SRFTI (Satyajit Ray Film and Television Institute). This club and its members also make short films on social topics like exam phobia and ragging. Workshops with eminent filmmakers are also held, where students interact with the students.

A training and placement cell is in charge of organising the Brainware University placement drive for students. Brainware University placement cell organises personality development and communication skills training programmes and helps students in preparing for the recruitment process. Brainware University also ensures that the majority of its students are placed in various companies by assisting them in whatever possible way. The placement cell at Brainware University conducts practise session classes and mock tests on aptitude, quantitative ability, logic and reasoning in order for students to practise and improve before appearing for the final interview and written test. Meanwhile, the Brainware University placement cell guides students in deciding their professional careers.

For the Brainware University placement drive, the placement cell sends the invitation letters to the companies enclosing a brief description of the courses available at the university. Then the accepting company sends a brief company profile, job profile and information regarding the campus recruitment drive to the Brainware University placement office. Later, the company visits the campus for the pre-placement talk either before the selection process or can combine it with the final recruitment. On receiving the appropriate information and documents, the campus to corporate (placement) office announces the requirements of the company, asking interested students to submit their resumes, which are subsequently screened and handed over to the company. Meanwhile, a mutually convenient date is finalised for the selection process or recruitment drive.

Brainware University has placed 90% of its first outgoing master's degree batch that was ready for placements in 2018. The university is constantly in touch with over 5,000 recruiters. The university offers admissions to Ph.D programmes in various specialisations. Brainware University admissions to Ph.D programmes are done on the basis of marks secured in the Brainware Entrance Test (BET). Later, the candidates who have cleared the entrance test will be called for an interview. At the time of interview for Brainware University Ph.D admission, 50% weightage will be given to research aptitude, 25% to subject knowledge and 25% weightage to her/his communication skills. The selection of candidates shall be made on the basis of the performance in the entrance test and interview- a weightage of 70% to the entrance test and 30% to performance in the interview/viva.

Central Sector Scheme Of Scholarships for college and university students	Students having above 80 percentile in Senior Secondary Examination and parent/family income ceiling is Rs.8 lakhs per annum.
ISHAN UDAY - Special Scholarship Scheme for North Eastern Region	ISHAN UDAY - Special Scholarship Scheme is for the northeastern region. The annual family income is not equal to or more than Rs 4.5 Lakhs per annum.
Post Matric Scholarship For SC/ST/OBC students- West Bengal	This scholarship is for the domicile of West Bengal SC/ST/OBC students, the domicile of West Bengal. The annual income of the family from all sources not more than Rs 2,50,000/- for SC/ST and Rs 1,00,000/- for OBC.
Swami Vivekananda Merit-Cum-Means Scholarship Scheme	This scholarship is for the domicile of West Bengal candidates whose family income is not more than Rs 2,50,000/- per annum. For Diploma level- Candidates must obtain at least 75% marks in aggregate in the qualifying examination for applying for the scholarship. For UG level- The minimum qualifying marks for being considered for award of scholarships will be 75% in aggregate, in the H.S. Examination conducted by the W.B. Council of H.S. Education/Madrasha Siksha Parishad. For PG level- Candidates should be graduates securing at least 53% marks in the honours subject at the graduation level. The marks obtained in the honours subject will be the only deciding criterion academically for the award of the PG level scholarships. Kanyashree recipients (K-2) (married/unmarried) pursuing postgraduate courses in science, arts and commerce stream from universities of this state after obtaining an undergraduate degree with 45% marks in aggregate from institutions of this state will come under the aegis of this scholarship scheme.
Post Matric Scholarships Scheme for minorities of West Bengal	The candidate must be a domicile of West Bengal. Must have secured not less than 50% marks or equivalent in the previous final examination. The annual family income should not exceed Rs 2 lakhs.
Merit Cum Means Scholarships Scheme for minorities of West Bengal	Domicile of West Bengal. Must have secured not less than 50% marks or equivalent in the previous final examination. The annual family income should not exceed Rs 2.5 lakhs.
West Bengal Chief Minister Relief Fund (Nabanna) Scholarship	Permanent resident of the state of West Bengal. The candidate who is studying in any institutions of the State after passing out of the State Board /Council of Secondary Education or a State-aided University in West Bengal. Secured 65% marks in aggregate in Madhyamik Examination (for H.S level) or 60% in aggregate in H.S Examination (for UG level) or 55% Marks in the Honours Subject (for PG level) Candidates who didn’t receive any other governmental(central/state) scholarship or stipend for the same course or stage of study during the last year. Annual family income does not exceed Rs 60000.

Yes! I can proudly tell that our University have one of the Best Infrastructure in West Bengal. It have all those facilities which a college should have. Smart Classrooms with projectors & rooms are big in size as well, Laboratories with smart boards & all necessary equipment's, Sports Field, Canteen of 5 different varieties, Hostels with great features, & lastly but not the least Fully Wi-Fi Campus. Yes for sure, the campus is pretty clean, well disciplined, food hygienic.

College Infrastructure

Our college have a huge campus of 10 acre land in Barasat, Kolkata. In our classroom, we have projectors with a white board and a laptop/desktop for teachers use only, there are many books in our library for borrowing. There are two food court in our campus which are very neat and clean.

Candidate admission is based on their performance in 10+2 and they must take a university entrance exam.
