72 MonthsThe Ph.D. in sociology is an academic degree awarded for extensive study and research in this subject matter. This degree is very closely related to all the other sciences such as psychology, economics, anthropology, and political science. The coursework in sociology includes both micro and macro aspects related to social welfare. Its approaches are both qualitative and quantitative in nature. The Ph.D. programme enables the researcher to acquaint with systemic methods of Investigations and critical analysis to develop and refine a structure of knowledge about human behavior and activities.
Eligibility Criteria
The minimum eligibility of candidates intending to pursue a doctoral programme is a pass with a minimum of 55% in a postgraduate programme and MPhil. The students who have cleared UGC-CSIR NET/JRF examination or SLET/GATE examinations and also the students who have worked as JRF for one year in the externally funded major research projects may be exempted from MPhil requirement. In the case of internally funded major research projects (MRP), the students may be exempted from MPhil requirement after two years of research experience. Under certain conditions such as the presence of high impact publications students with a high academic performance at the postgraduate level, may be admitted directly to a Ph.D. programme.
Admission Details
Admissions are done on the basis of Christ University Entrance Test, Skill Assessment, Micro Presentation, Academic Performance(Assessment of past performance in Degree and MPhil and the research proposal during the Personal Interview), and Personal interview.
