72 MonthsDoctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) is an offered Full-time three/six-year Doctoral program and it is offered by the Indian Institute of Technology Hyderabad. Ph.D. programme shall be for a minimum duration of three years, including course work and a maximum of six years. Extension beyond the above limits will be governed by the relevant clauses as stipulated in the Statute/Ordinance of the individual Institution concerned.
Eligibility Criteria
Candidates with a B.Tech/B.E/B.S./M.Sc./MCA degree in any discipline and having an M.Tech/M.E/M.S. degree in CSE/IT/ECE/EE can apply if they meet the following eligibility criteria:
General/OBC (Creamy Layer)
- B.Tech/B.E/B.S/M.Sc/MCA: 7.0 CGPA or above and
- M.Tech/M.E./M.S. in CSE/IT/ECE/EE: 7.0 CGPA or above
Reservation - OBC non-creamy layer Category
- B.Tech/B.E/B.S/M.Sc/MCA: 6.3 CGPA or above and
- M.Tech/M.E./M.S. in CSE/IT/ECE/EE: 6.3 CGPA or above
Reservation - SC, ST Category
- B.Tech/B.E/B.S/M.Sc/MCA: 5.9 CGPA or above and
- M.Tech/M.E./M.S. in CSE/IT/ECE/EE: 5.9 CGPA or above
Direct-Ph.D – Candidates with a B.Tech/B.E/B.S./M.Sc/MCA in CSE/EE/IT/ECE (without having M.Tech/M.E/M.S. degree in in CSE/IT/ECE/EE) can also apply, provided they have a valid GATE CS score AND
- General/OBC(creamy layer): 7.5 CGPA
- OBC non-creamy layer: 6.75
- SC, ST: 6.4 CGPA
B.Tech. in CSE/IT/EE/ECE from IITs with CGPA 8 or above can apply without a valid GATE score
Admission Details
The admission is based on the performance in the written test followed by an interview.

College Infrastructure
The facilities of IIT Hyderabad are top-class, with excellent labs and all facilities like Wi-Fi. Classrooms are large, and the library is very good. The college also provides hostel facilities where we get good food. The mess is clean and offers a variety of food compared to the canteen. Medical facilities are provided, and sports and games materials are available and many sports competition are also held here and we compete with some other IIT'S team .
