B.Sc Biotechnology Hons at ITM University, Raipur Offline Course

Biotechnology is the branch of Science & Technology that deals with the application of biology with varied techniques for the effective manufacturing or amendment of valuable products to acquire a vast number of substances that bestow to improve people’s lives and health. The course comprises an in-depth study of a biological process that is meant for industrial purposes like genetic manipulation of microorganisms to produce antibiotics, hormones, enzymes, etc. used in medicine production and other such purposes. The course involves theoretical knowledge along with the practical implementation of the same via laboratory experiments and analysis through computer software. Biotechnology covers vast areas of study viz. Cell & Molecular Biology, Immunology, Microbiology, Virology, Bioinformatics, Medicine Technology, etc. It also focuses on Entrepreneurship as a subject in the syllabus covering every aspect from ideation to market-launched products based on Biotechnology / Microbiology / Agriculture / Bioinformatics etc.

The Bachelor of Science in Biotechnology (Honours) program is a three-year, full-time program that comprises 6 semesters (approximately 6 months each semester). In three years, students will undertake 14 Core Courses like Immunology, Cell Biology & Genetics, Molecular Biology, Recombinant DNA Technology, Plant Biotechnology, Bioinformatics, etc. and 23 ability & skill enhancement Courses in Biotechnology, one short-term industry internship for a duration of 2 months in the 6th Semester, with many short-term projects & training programs with a duration of a few days throughout the course.
