Ph.D Food Science and Technology shall be for a minimum duration of three years, including course work and a maximum of six years. Extension beyond the above limits will be governed by the relevant clauses as stipulated in the Statute/Ordinance of the individual Institution concerned.
All candidates shall have to appear for Research Entrance Test (RET) to be organized by NIFTEM in its campus followed by interview for the candidates who qualify RET. Merit list will be prepared on the basis of RET (70% weightage) and interview (30% weightage). Due weightage will be given to NET/GATE qualified candidates.
M.Tech. in Food Science/Food Technology and Management/Food Technology/Food Process Engineering/Food Engineering/Dairy Engineering/Agricultural Engineering(with process and Food Engineering electives)/Bio-Chemical Engineering/Chemical Engineering from a recognized university/institute. OR M.Sc. in Food Technology/Food Science and Technology/Food Science and Nutrition, Meat Science/Meat Technology/M.V.Sc. in Animal Products Technology/Livestock Products Technology.
