The university was established in 1967. The university was formed by the Saurashtra University Act, 1965, passed by the Legislative Assembly of Gujarat. The university is approved by UGC and accredited by NAAC. The university is situated on 363 acres of land. Rajkot, Jamnagar, Amreli, Surendranagar and Morbi districts are the present jurisdiction of the university. The university has around 238 affiliated colleges. The vision of Saurashtra University is to achieve the highest global standards with its higher learning techniques.
