AEC Salem or Annapoorana Engineering College in Salem, Tamil Nadu was established in the year 2010. The college is a private autonomous college. AEC Salem is affiliated with Anna University, Chennai and is recognised by AICTE, New Delhi and is accredited by NAAC. The college sits over an area of 13.94 acres; however, it enroles 565 students in total and has 135 faculty members. AEC Salem is one of the pioneer institute offering eleven courses distributed in two prestigious degrees focusing on different engineering fields. The institute maintains a diverse student body with a 3:1 male to each female student and there is a small 1% enrollment of out of state students.

AEC Salem owns modern day teaching structures to improve learning and co-curricular activities. The campus has science laboratories, computerised teaching aid tools, upgraded electronic classroom facilities, and a three storey book repository with a total area of 755 sq.m with number of publications of 7865 covering 19,784 volumes. Also helpful for students well equipped IT facility like central computer centre with 450 computers, internet misma 15 MBPS,  and Wi-Fi valley wide. It has separate hostels for boys and girls with well furnished canteens, with R/O drinking water facilities and playing area as well. A fully equipped health centre that provides round the clock ambulance service adds to the students’ comfort. Other facilities available are Power Gym, hygienic cafeteria, multi-arena auditorium, and transport facilities linking Salem, Namakkal and Adjacent regions.

The institute includes undergraduate and postgraduate programmes in Engineering and Technology field. The full-time courses include 9 BE/B.Tech programmes and 2 ME/M.Tech programmes. The courses which are on high demand include BE in Civil, Computer Science and Engineering, Electronics and Communication, Electrical and Electronics, Mechanical and Automobile Engineering with an intake of 60. The college also provides a variety of other programmes including BE in Biomedical Engineering, Artificial Intelligence and Data Science, IT among other unique programmes. There are postgraduate ME programmes in Computer Science and Engineering, with 24 seats, and Power Electronics and Drives with 24 seats as well.

The fundamental process of admission privilege of Annapoorana Engineering College depends on the merit rate in the entrance tests into the college, besides the qualifying examinations. B.Tech candidates have to appear for the Tamil Nadu Engineering Admissions (TNEA) counselling in order to get admission into the institute.
