    About Arun College of Education, Thanjavur

    Arun college of education was established in the year 2007 a professional college situated in Vallam, Thanjavur of Tamil Nadu for training teachers. This affiliated college, recognised from National Council for Teacher Education (NCTE), is committed to building the future of education. Located in a small 0.5 acre plot it provides an intense learning environment for the teacher trainees. The college admits a total of 200 students while having 15 faculty members including professors and lecturers to facilitate each student in the college.

    The Arun college of education has equipped with facilities that are aimed at improving the learning process of the teacher trainees of the college. A comprehensive collection of knowledge comprises a large stock of books in different themes; newspapers, magazines and various specialised reference materials are also provided. The large labs suit subjects like physics, chemistry, botany, zoology and computer sciences and can support practical work. The college provides for its student’s physical well being in that there is a vast playground that allows for almost all the common sports such as Football, Shuttle Cock, Tennis, Palliative Kho-Kho among other outdoor games, indoor concrete games like chess and carrom among several others. The campus also boasts of contemporary facilities for instance an event and seminar hall, a gym for workout freaks and a canteen for drinks and foods. Also; Other facilities include accommodation for guest faculty and student family as they teach or accompany their wards in college respectively.

    Arun College of Education currently offers one full-time course: namely, the Bachelor of Education or the B.Ed programme . This course takes two years and has an approved annual student intake of one hundred, in order to achieve the college’s preferred student to teacher ratio. The B.Ed course therefore prepares candidates for their future responsibilities in their work place as teachers. 

    Intake of students at Arun College of Education is based on merit duly supported by the state government and the Union Territory administration in addition to the affiliated university norms.
