BGS College of Education, Mandya, established in 2007, is one of the renowned College of teacher education situated in Doddabidarakallu, Mandya Dist, Karnataka state. At the 40 acre large campus, this co-educational institution is affiliated with the University and is recognised as a constituent college and has accreditation from the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC). NCTE is the National Council for Teacher Education which gives the college a thumbs up for providing quality education. BGS College of Education has 67 students enroled in total and 16 faculties,  making it the right place for educational enthusiast.

BGS College of Education adopts certain facilities that are meant to improve the learning process of the students. The library, which forms one of the largest and core information centre, has a rich stock of encyclopedias national and international journals, magazines, audio-visual aids etc. The college also boasts well equipped laboratories such as the Psychology Laboratory and the Science Laboratory, which are essential in skill based areas of teacher education. Separate hostels for students, for boys and girls, are available. The boys’ hostel accommodate 100 students whereas girls’ hostel accommodate 80 students. To support physical education and spirit among the students, campus has many sports facilities such as play grounds etc.

At present, BGS College of Education offers one main course, the Bachelor of Education (B.Ed) programme. This is a full course that lasts for two years and approved number of students is one hundred. Unlike other programmes, the B.Ed programme is developed with an aim of producing professional teachers by delivering to the students the teaching skills and knowledge. Although this is a central teacher training programme of the college, it shows commitment in offering quality education on teacher preparation.

The admission policy at BGS College of Education is that candidates are admitted purely on merit as per the guidelines of the State Government, U.T. Administration and the University. The qualification for admission is determined by performance in the qualifying examination and or entrance examination. The college may use other methods of selection which are according to the current policies in place. This approach makes sure that qualified candidates get a chance to realise their teaching goals at the institute. Alumni associations also add another layer to the college environment as it offers other avenues for students to receive mentorship/career direction for their programmes of study given alumni association networks.
