CSI Bishop Newbigin College of Education is one of the premier teacher training institutions established in 2009, situated in the cultural capital of Mylapore Chennai. This is a co-educational college affiliated to Tamil Nadu Teachers Education University which has a vision to mold the trainees of future. Affiliated to the Karnataka University, recognised by the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) and approved by the National Council for Teacher Education (NCTE) the college offers quality education in teacher education. Immersed in a very small plot of land measuring only 3 acres, RAA is benefits from a role for its 153 students coupled nine members of faculties.

It is equipped with some of the facilities which can improve the learning process of college’s students. These house a well-stocked library in the centre as the central core containing knowledge and an enclosed hall for reading and researching. It also has up-to-date laboratories,/studios in which students in teacher training colleges can practice their skills. In the provision of additional accommodation requirements miscellaneous amenities such as sports facilities are realised to promote physical fitness as well as academic achievements. As a result an auditorium is used for seminars, cultural activities, and academic related events in order encourage an active student life. To cater to the health needs of the students the college management has put up a health centre with first aid facilities. To meet the present day’s teaching needs, the institution is well facilitated with modern facilities IT to ensure that students embrace technology enabled teaching.

As stated above, CSI Bishop Newbigin College of Education at the present moment offers only one primary programme – Bachelor of Education (B.Ed). This is actually a full time course extended for two years and aimed at producing quality teachers. An intake of 100 students in B.Ed programme has been approved and this programme offers professional preparation training in education theories and practices.
