In the era of globalization and competition, there was a vacuum of five years integrated law Programme and LL.M. (Human Rights Group) Programme in the south region of Gujarat. Hence seeds of Law Department were sowed in the academic year in form of LL.M. (Human Rights) Programme. Department of Law was established with the introduction of Five Years Integrated B. Com. LL.B. (Hons) Programme. The Legal Education Committee of The Bar Council of India has given approval to impart Five Years Integrated B.Com. LLB (Hons.) Programme. The Government of Gujarat has also issued NOC to the university for this Programme3. From academic year, the Department has introduced Masters in Law with specialization in Criminal Law (Law & Deviance) and Business Law Groups. The department is well-equipped with necessary infrastructure. The students participates in Legal Aid Clinic/Centre and undergoes a vigorous internship of 20 weeks as a part of the curriculum component for Five Years Integrated B. Com. LL.B. (Hons) Programme. The curriculums of the course are updated as per the Bar Council of India, University Grant Commission and University norms. 

In Order to provide law students with Quality Academic Environment the College has developed all the necessary infrastructural facilities with Magnific Moot Court Room, Sandhan-Bisag Room with Computer Facilities and Knowledge Resource library with Numbers of Law Books, Career guidance Books, Inspirational And Motivational Books with separate reading area to enrich the Knowledge of the Students by all Way.

The Department of Law, an Department of Veer Narmad South Gujarat University, Surat, offers a five-year integrated B.Com LLB programme with an approved intake of 120 seats. The department provides an LLM programme with an approved intake of 63 seats for postgraduate studies. VNSGU LLM admission procedure for the LLM course is also merit-based. Candidates must have completed their LLB or equivalent degree from a recognised university to be eligible for admission. The selection process considers the academic performance of candidates in their undergraduate law programme.

Admission is on the basis of the UGC NET/JRF, GSET & result of entrance test conducted by University and followed by presentation of research proposal before the Research and Recongnization Committee (RRC)
